Do you favor certain Oil viscosity


5W30 10W30  whats your favorite and why?    I used 10W30 Synthetic

I stick with 10W30. I found that 5W30 always gives me the runs.

the Shelby uses 5 -50 syn and the Thunderbird 5-20 wt, Typhoon 10-30 mobil 1. I stick to the factory specs

10-30 what ever is the cheapest. the way I see it I change the oil about every 1000 KM if not more often so I don't feel a need to go with the high end and synthedics.

10-40 in the 64 Catalina, as long as it's got "ZINC" in it!!! if not 10-30 with "additive"!!!!!!!

         I understand using factory recommended oils   Why is 10W-30  sorta of standard  and why os 5-40 5-50 better   is it temperatures?

I have always run 15W40 Diesel in all my older cars.

...Always used 15W-40 Royal Purple.  I was told that grade was ideal for high temp summer driving conditions in the Okanagan.

I use Petro-Canada Duron 5W40 full synthetic in most everything including the lawn mower exc new stuff that requires 5w30 full syn

Reason, 5 weight when cold, as 90% of your engine wear is within the first 2 minutes of warmup, 40 weight when at operating temp for those high rpm blasts and that 40 weight film strength might keep the scoring down on the pistony skirts ! 15W40 works too and is much cheaper ... my 2bits
