SD was an option in 1966. Look for option A51. In '67, the SD became a separate model.
Not all '66 SD's were BB's. In fact, the registry shows only about 250 were built with the 396. They're rare.
Sheet metal is mostly the same as the Chevelle but things like rear bumper, tail lights, grill, much of the interior and exterior trim pieces were specific to the '66 Beaumont. Only 3318 two dr HT's were made with V8's. Some parts are getting very hard to source. Things like tail light lenses are not being reproduced, so what's left out there is all there is. Some interior pieces cross over to the GTO so, between Chevelles and GTO pieces, a surprising number of pieces can be found.
General information needed on this car. Being a Chevy guy, I am not to
educated on Beamonts. At some point I would like to buy a '66 SD to park
next to my '66 Chevelle SS 396. What codes should I be looking for on the
trim tag ? To be safe I would get GM Canada documentation. Are they all big blocks ? No, as a matter of fact, very few were. Do most body parts interchange with the
Chevelle. Sheet metal, yes. Are most trim parts easy to find and are they being reproduced ? No, that is the challenge with a Beaumont!
Any good books to read on Beamonts and Acadians out there ? Be careful. There is a lot of wrong info out there about Beaumonts and Acadians, and it's in printed form! Lots of questions but thank you in advance.
