my 1960 strato chief (abit of an update)

Just thought I would post a couple pics of my car now and slowly show progression.

Just purchased,  strato-six 3 on the tree.

Very solid body and frame.  Its a good base to start with.

Thanks, Definately glad to have found this website. I am sure to gain more knowledge in a shorter timeframe.

hey to all from Casselman, Ontario.

I am building this car for my son who is 6 months old. I can't wait for him to stand so he can learn to do the brakes.

Until that scary day of handing him the keys........ This will be my "mini wagon"

Neat car. I've never seen a '60 Strato with back up lights, and 2 speed wipers. And only a couple with radios, good luck on the build.

Was reverse lights an option ? When I purchsed it , it came with solid reverse light peices with all the parts. If it did not come with reverse lights... then I will replace them with the other peices. As for the wipers.. that was the only thing that did not work with the car when I got it. This leads me to another question on where to locate another wiper motor/ pump that will replace this one that will mount to the original holes.

Update- Exhaust done, rebuilt carb, Gas tank, new gas lines, new brake booster, new brake lines, brakes, wheel cylinders. practicing welding as I am going to order complete floor pans.

Once floor is done I can start looking into suspension. One thing at a time and make sure that I don't spend too much time
outside so The wife is happy.

I believe the reverse lights were an option. My Strato Chief wagon came with them as well as the Laurention 4 door I scrapped had them. The 59-60 Chev wiper motors are the same I think.

my 1960 strato chief (abit of an update)

Been very busy on parental leave taken care of my son so time is very precious but this is progress.
I changed direction of working on floors as I didn't wand to cut and weld in my Quebec garage and burn it down.
list of projects done
upper and lower ball joints
tire rod ends and end links
front shocks
found a used wiper motor ( sanded and painted ) My wipers work ...nice
swaybar linkage and bushings waiting for me to sand and paint sway bar (today hopefully)
rear shock mount bolts (broke original removing shocks)
rear shocks
new coil , plugs n wires
change all fluids
new belt
mock fit rims and tires .(weld drag lites (my favorite)not everyones)
Pic is of rear 275 60 15. ( my neighbours kids in back of car and got him to jump on back bumper)
lots of clearance) I will bring it out to check stance.
Next will be taking the car out and starting the long process of doing floors and body.
Ya its going to be a while. I do have the floor pans.
Oh yes ..... I will have it on the road this year.
I will try again to post pics but first i will post so I don't lose this message and have to type this for a 3rd time.
Jay

Definately happy. I thought I would mention that the rope is there as extra safety to hold down the frame of my garage so it doesn't move around as much in the wind. And yes the passenger side of the car is very close to the side of (garage) it was quite a task working on passenger side doing work.
