I pulled the little tab back, tried to just pull off would like removal so i can paint Just not comming off any ideas, been on for 45 years or so any help would be much appreciated
wiggle it around and tap on it lightly... they dont like coming off unless you pull it completely straight up, which can be a challenge with a wiper arm.
Even with the little clip removed, the wiper arm is still under load from the spring. I got mine off by pulling the wiper off of the glass with one hand, and manipulating (wiggling/tapping) the base. Usually if you add some pressure in the opposite direction that the spring is forcing it, it lets go. (of course the clip must be out first) Hopefully that makes sense.
Or you can find an old bodyman that has the tool to take them off..and you still need to wiggle and jiggle and lift straight up...ya might even find a tool on ebay..it's a handle with a L shaped swing arm on one end that's about an inch long.
A "heel' bar with curved hook on end will allow you to "pry" straight up while you hold the clip out. They sometimes get "seized" onto the pivot. When re-installing them, put some "NEVER SEIZE" on the pivot splines for "next time"
