1978 CJ7 Renegade Levi edition

You guys heard me yak about my jeep sometimes. i bought this thing over 20 years ago, since then everything has been replaced. i mean everything. glass body, canadian pontiac engine and so on. last year i ran across a guy at timmies "imagine" he was driving a newer yj with these awesome flairs on it. the flairs were made by rugged ridge. it took awhile but i managed to get a set for my cj. today i'm installing

front flare off

front on, back next

back for mockup. gotta cut the body

Do you have to cut it? I would mount the flares and just paint it with some blac or chip-guard or undercoating

My son has a 79 CJ5 anniversary special that he redid several times already and I have a 77 fiberglass CJ5 that I would like to put 1 of my 462 Pontiacs in. Have a early Bronco rear diff for mine should I get ambitious. Pic of my son's. He just repainted it again, painter by trade, and he beats the crap out of it on the trails. Think he has either 33 or 35 BFG mud terrains on it now. Goodyear wranglers worked the best so far.

i've run wranglers before, awesome tire for jeeps. another good tire i've run was yokohama super diggers, i never got stuck. whats on it now are hercules mud and snow. his look like 33, same size as mine. for a drive train this thing has a 454 in it for now but its slated for the convertible and the 70 Lt1 from the rag will slide into the jeeps frame rails. transmission is a farmer sm465 4sp with a 205 gear driven transfer case all out of a 78 chev 1 ton. rear axle is a dana 44 with lock right front and back, gearing is 3.42 plus warn hubs. rad is a custom 4 core. if i ever get my act together i might finish it. it got shelved years ago when i was in the military and i was headed over seas for 6 month. since then i've retired and have no excuses. this weekend past i acquire cloth 1/2 doors from the ancaster fleamarket, good score. its got a full glass body, steel doors, checkerplate aluminum dash with custom gauges. 75 lt gas tank. heres some pics from over the years.

I rented a CJ on Maui once in the 80's. I think the thing had a 304 in it? It sure had power.

I got it stuck real bad at a place called "Sugar Beach", just as the owner of the rental place went by. I did The Dukes of Hazard thing just prior. There was mud on the inside of the windshield as I recall. No damage except I lost my deposit.no It was indeed a tough rig.
