hood alinement

I was wondering why i had so much space between my hood moulding and the grill, then something popped in my head! Even tho the hood is alined with the top of my fenders, the moulding is off by 1/2 inch with the eyebrows! I can lower the hood bumpers, but that will mess up my alinement with the fenders! So, what does this all mean.....wrong hood, wrong year, wrong model?? It looks identical to every other 66 hood ive seen, except the front doesnt match up with eyebrows and tops of fender at SAME time!! Any ideas!???

Hi, just judging by your photo, it looks like your hood is slightly (just under a 1/4") higher than your fender. I also notice what seems to be a flat spot above your eyebrow molding. Can the eyebrow be moved up? Old cars (even when they were brand new) are/were never perfect.

Eyebrow is sitting correctly ( bad lighting ) and yes, hood and fender are an 1/8 out, but if I adjust that it still wont make up for the 1/2 inch at the molding!! I know the cars is old, but I've never seen a Beaumont or chevelle that far out !!! And again, it's either the top or bottom , but I can't get both alined! Maybe I'll take a pic of entire front so u can see what I mean, and youll see the huge gap between grill and hood. Just looks awkward!!

Hard to tell but does the sharp body line across the front of the car all matches up good? Is it all oem parts?

My aftermarket fender eyebrow moldings had lots of play and needed to be played with for a while before I got them to fit good. But 67 is diffrent hmm

Maybe its an aftermarket hood molding and can be moved?

I'm sure it just need an adjustment...Not a real big worrie.

Yes , the body line matches from fender to fender across the hood!! Thats what im trying to explain and show thru the pics! So why is the molding 1/2 inch off (both sides)!! The eyebrows cannot move in, out, up or down any further! As far as I know, the hood is original, as is all the molding!

If i took all the molding off the front of the car, it still wouldnt aline, and the space between the hood and grill would still be there. And by space I mean 1/2 inch or more than there should be. Its like someone cut out a half inch metal strip from the hoods lip! I know this didnt happen, but thats the best way i can explain it!

Anyways, thanks for your input guys, ill figure something out!!

Looking at the picture, it looks like the fender line goes up from the hood to the outside and making the eyebrow slanting down to hood??

Is the fender twisted (bent) some how?

If the weather is decent enough and you are gonna be around on saturday maybe I will bring my car over and we can take a look. I did have to put a couple body shims under the fender side of the rad support to get mine to line up. I was in the same boat as you though trying to make it a lot better than when it came out of the factory. Let me know if that might work out

Looks like the whole hood should be lowered a bit as a first step.

Hood latch installed wrong, or the wrong one??? Just a thought. I went thru this on a 69 Cutlass, Rad cradle had the "wrong" rubbers under it,[too high] frt. fenders had a twist in them due to Rad cradle being slightly bent!! When I loosened everything off, you could hear & see the sheet metal "POP" back straight. Spent hrs. hrs. getting it the best I could for the owner, not perfect but way better than what it was.KEEP AT IT!!!!!

Wow...looks like you could check your oil without opening the hood. I had to fix a couple hoods like that. First I removed the latch, then put a 2x6 under each front corner of the hood and carefully push down on the center of the hood. When the gap between the hood and the grill is even all the way across put the latch back in.
