I must be nuts but I decided to do a cam swap this winter in the 496" I am looking to make some more power. Right now the beau is almost uncontrollable in the first 2 gears but for some unknown reason I want more.
I had a new hydraulic roller made for it and received it a few weeks back. Sometime after Christmas I will make the change. I was able to cruise in 5th gear as low as 1700 rpm with my current cam but this is going to move it up about 300rpm, which will probably mean I should swap my 3.73 gears to 4.10's so I can cruise in 5th. at a law biding speed. This sickness seems to snowball.
I am also going to see if there is any way I can fit 275/60/15 tires in the rear. My 255's take an awfull beating now

Makes total sense to me!!
If car is uncontrollable in 1st and 2nd then it would make sense to add power..
maybe just putting some P235/60R-15's on it would add some uncontrollably to 3rd and 4th??

Wow...thought I was the only one...lol. I've been cam shopping also. I could make some pretty good power gains with a bigger cam. Not that I need more power.
