i have spent all the money i want on new parts so now i need to go scavaging i dont know how to measure for a steering column or what would even fit my 48 any help would be nice thanks guys
Brian, what are you trying to do?? Tilt, teley etc. What strg box have you got or what chassis. If going for a used one get as much as you can partswise, you'll have to fabricate brkts. under the dash to hold it up, & then the same for thru the firewall support, & length. If running R&P strg. your going to need U/joints as well?????? Need more info

Like Pete said it will depend on the steering box, etc. A couple other things other than tilt is do you want the key in the column? Auto on the column or floor shift?
Measure the distance from the firewall to the steering box. The angle is somewhat adjustable but not much if using a stock extension. You may need u-joints. Also check what angle it will put the column at when it enters the cabin. This is where you may need to use a tilt column if wheel sits too high when you are in the seat.
I have a few 68-72 A-body columns out sitting in the shop if you need any measurements from those.
