I owned one for 8 years. Rare? yes estimated 1023 built. All were built in St.Therese,Quebec. Collectible? yes. Valuable? No. As mentioned this car is overshadowed by other G body cars of the time.
Despite the lo-po 305,the OD trans along with the sportier suspension made this car a great handler. The rear window and spoiler helped keep the car planted when I buried the needle countless times. The trunk opening barely fit a two-four case of beer.
Ordered as a package, there were no options over and above the 2+2. All came with grey cloth interior, tilt, air, cruise, full instrumentation including tach.AM/FM cassette, leather wraped wheel and shifter.power windows,locks.15X7 ralleye wheels and 2156515 Eagle GT blackwall tires.Beefy front and rear sway bars, and 3.08 posi rear end. I drove the piss out of mine and racked up well over 100 KM's on it. Drove it twice from Ontario to Newfoundland, and all over Upstate New York. The Yellow Letter Goodyears and AR-767 wheels gave the car a real NASCAR look. I sold it after I bought my very first house. Love to have another, but 17K is too much.

Did you buy it from new? The mods to the car look pretty neat in the photo. My Monte SS had an 140 kmh/85 mph speedo so I suspect the GP was the same.
They put a little peg on it so it wouldn't go past. Sometines it would be several minutes after I stopped accelerating until the needle lifted off the peg. Using my Bro's LX 5.0 speedo as a pace car the Monte SS could do 210 Km per hour, of course the Mustang could do a tick over 240.
I am sure with the gearing it had the 2+2 Aero could do 210 as well,

Tsk, tsk, tsk.... Thought we were never to reveal our "unposted" speeds here????

The car is far from underpowered, it's likely better than a 283 in a big Pontiac, it's just not a performance engine. A run or the mill 283 is roughly 136 Net HP and this is about 150 or 155 Net HP. I think $17,000 is way too much for this $5,000 car.
$5000 car? This is a beautiful car...admittedly he may be a tich high. But it is a beautiful example...and it is true many of these were left to rot away....

I bought her used and was already painted.I added the wheels and tires myself.Never winter driven.
BUT driven the daylights out if it in the summer months.
Bought her in the summer of 1993,sold her in 2001.She was my "bachelor man" car and being nelyweds with a new mortgage, the car was turned over to buy new appliances for the house.I hated to sell, but sometimes ya gotta do what needs to be done.
Yes,the 3.08 gears helped in the high speed dept. Also I was getting almost 500 KM's to a tank when driving the speed limit with the cruise control turned on.
In town,I had to drive in third since the OD was too tall for the rear gears in city driving with the 2356015 Goodyears..
I never really noticed if there was ever a limitier on my car unless it was removed by a previous owner.I know there was a rev limiter, however,it kicked in at 5500-5800 RPM.That I do remember,LOL!!
Very reliable and comfortable cars.
6 grand is a more realistic price given today's market.
That's what I paid for mine in 1993,LOL.
Given the rarity of my old car, nobody wanted to pay much for it.
Some people thought it was a kit car or conversion.
To this day,all my best friends tell me I should not have sold it for the mere pittance I let it go for.She needed work, but the body was still great shape.
BTW,there are more of these cars in and around the South Eastern Ontario area..just hiding in garages.I know of two others..and my old car whereabouts as well,LOL
The problem with this hobby and prices is that people get emotionally attached to these piles of steel and rubber then their brain doesn't work, both sellers and buyers.
I agree. The cars I like are typically worthless yet have an interesting story behind them or many others can relate to my cars . In the world of collector cars,it takes money to make money. Sometimes more money than brains as illustrated on a big TV auction show..
