Anyone have any info or thoughts of how to rig up a TH400 kickdown switch to a Edelbrock 1405 carb? I'm getting these things straight in my mind for my spring engine swap, and It appears it cannot be hooked up as done on the QuadraJet. The 1405 doesn't have the flat contact spot on the throttle arm for the switch.
Also, can the vacumme line for the trans be supplied from the manifold vac port on the same carb? I'm not sure if I can supply both the trans and booster vac from the intake vac port. Nice to have another option.
Cheers and thanks, Mark

When I ditched my old and worn stock q-jet on my '69 I replaced with a 600 cfm Edelbrock and they did not have a location for the stock kick down switch. I inquired about what I should do from Edelbrock and they said that they sell a WOT bracket and micro switch for their NOS setups and it would work fine. It was more than I wanted to spend for a anodized piece of aluminum and a $2 limit switch. Also I wanted the tranny to shift before WOT so I would not be wasting all kind of gas just trying to drop into gear. I went to the surplus store and bought what I needed for around $3 and made a kick down switch that fits in front of the throttle linkage and I can adjust it to open when ever I want to. I kind of rough wire it to see if it would work and it does just fine. Most of this is temporary because I am going to be installing a 700r4 here soon, so I did not want to get to technical over a short term fix. I did secure the wire a little better since the photo.
here is the original one that did not fit the new carb
Thanks guys, and Carl, is that your setup, or somthing found on the net. Now I really have a good idea of what I'll need. There appears to be a few different options available, but somthing home made might actually be best.
In reading about the TH400 kickdown function, I'm wondering if my switch wasn't defective. The trans at times failed to kick down even at full throttle. I'll have to fix that since I don't have a BB to fill the void...Carl.

you could also use the factory style switch that is mounted under the dash and hits the throttle pedal. found on 4 example 68 Beaumonts with T400. search T400 switch for a GTO...
