Throwing myself on the mercy of my brothers across the river: 1966 Parisienne/GP parts neede

Dear brothers across the river, but close to my heart:

I am finally, after 20+ years of marriage, and two great kids, restoring a US '66 2+2 (to see pix, go to fotki.com/ragtopman87 and scroll down).  Yes, it's finally my turn.

While the US economy kicked me right in the crease and put me on the street after 27 + years of service, I'm not quitting or giving up on my car. I'm scrounging and scraping up the cash to keep my dream going. And this is where I could use some help, if you can offer it:

The US 2+2 and Cdn Parisienne Sport Coupe and Grand Parisienne coupes all used the same horizontal lower body trim.

My 2+2 has all of the trim intact -- save for the two small 'whiskers' that go between the rear edge of the door, and the front of the wheelwell opening.

I have been searching for the better part of two years to find these parts, and have met with either a.) battered junk or b.) sheer banditry from other sources.

My request, if you can find it in your hearts, garages, or local recycling establishments: do you know of any junked, clunked or parted '66 2-doors with this trim? Or, do you have these parts rattling around under your workbench? Even a larger part from a 4-door would work as long as matching l/r parts were available to cut and trim -- a good friend works at a prominent Detroit protoype shop and can fabricate if basic molding stock can be located.

While I would not have planned it, I actually have the time to track the parts down and lay out the cash.  The only Cdn cars that have come up recently were too far away :(  or the owners would not part them.

I appreciate any help you can give, and hope to meet with anyone crossing the bridge next summer at the Woodward Cruise.

Many thanks!

Thanks for the Pontiac brotherhood and support!!! It means a lot to me.

To answer 427Carl's question, here is a shot of what is missing, and where it fits on my car. I need this part for both left and right sides. To help identify it in a pile of trim, here are some shots from Norwalk this year. Would have bought them, but the seller would only part with an entire set, and not individual items.  This is the backside...

And this is the front:

Approximate length is 19 3/4" if it helps.

This is the car... getting ready for better times!

To the best of my memory I have a couple of spares on on a 66 Parisienne hardtop. I'll measure them if you like to see if they are the same and then we can talk about getting them to ya.

Many thanks again for the help!!!!!!! To answer the question it is a real deal 421 car currently packing most of a 69 Gp 428. Plan is to make a true 4-inch stroke motor and keep a single 4v with a touch of invention, building a stealth AFB that will really let it roar.

LOL it is a quote from one of my favorite films ever, "Animal House" which I had the good fortune to see my second night on campus at Michigan State wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the fall of 1978... nothing was the same after that! Please keep me in mind of anyone with US Catalina/2+2 or GP parts, still seeking a tilt column, '73-76 Grandville rear stab bar, the big front bar for the Pontiac chassis and other bits.

I think so if they're not too dinged up.  Got them on the car I brought from Gimli a couple of years ago. Its a 66 Parisienne hardtop.  Not sure if hes need the clips too.  That's make it bit harder.  I have PM'd him but no answer so far.

Well, we haven't got them to you yet...  Here for your approval (as Rod Serling would say,) is the spears I have.  The first picture is of the car they are on so you can take a look to be fairly sure they'll fit yours.  Second and third pics are as close as I could get to them so you can see condition.

They'll need a bit of polishing thats for sure as they have sat next to Lake Winnipeg for quite a while.

Let me know if you want them.  I'll try to get them with the clips but I make no guarantees on that.  The clips should be fairly easy to find I think as they would have been the same for all that lower trim.

Price for you will be $20.00 (to cover the cost of me kneeling in the snow and cursing a couple of times at least) plus shipping which will probably be about 10.00 (but I'll let you know on that.)

Let me know of thats all OK and I'll take them off.

Lord have mercy! Those are the parts!!!

I will PM you to set everything up, but thank you from the bottom of my heart's oil pan for this effort. I have been looking for these for a solid year and a half -- it will finally push my project into the next stage.

Thanks 1,000,000!

MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO MEASURE THEM. CANADIAN AND AMERICAN PARTS DO NOT ALWAY INTERCHANGE.

 Very true.

Some U.S. trim can be cut to fit Canadian cars, but not the other way around.

Douglas A 26.  I used to fight fire with them when they were airtankers in Northern Alberta.  What a bunch of Hotrods!  The company had 18 of them flying at one point, lost a few to crashes, fires etc. Last used them on the line in 2004 and I think most or all have ben sold off by now. I know one got flown to Australia.

Mucho fun job!

( I sent a PM back to you yesterday.)
