Was wondering if anyone has ever purchased unassembled door panels and installed them themselves. What else do you need, parts, tools? Was it easy or something better left to the professionals? Reason I ask, mine our toast! Theyve been reupholstered over the original and when I removed the new pattern everything underneath was moldy! I'm thinking of getting the unassembled set from Dale's, but I want to know what's all involved before I do! I really want Beaumont pattern and not the chevelle or gto! Any insight is appreciated!!
Thanks
Rich
Ok, let's spin this a bit! Anyone done their own door panels whether assembled or not, and what , if any problems you had!? Where u get ur panels, how was the fit, any mistakes made i can avoid, etc..
not to sure what you mean by un-assembled i made a set for my car years ago with 1/8 plywood and shaved the edges to allow them to fit into the chrome strips holding them on If you get them from dales they should have the backing on them. mine had clips to hold them to the door as well as the chrome i had to bow them slightly to fit into the chrome Im assuming you have not trouble in removing the door handles etc.
next time i do mine im going to get the material with out the backing because the only ones i can get are for Nova but the pattern was the same except upside down, so if i get them without the backing i show be able to turn it 180 degrees.here is an original and my new ones

66 Beaumont door panel; the only difference between a unassembled and a preassembled panel is the stainless trim molding that runs across the lower portion of the door panel A preassembled panel has the trim; a unassembled panel you reuse the trim from your old panel. The only other item you may require for installation are new clips & clip inserts
So all the holes are already punched into board and vinyl (window crank, door handles, arm pad base)? The ones I was lookin at from dales have no holes in them. And areas where the clips or screws go, are they marked on board back or do I need to locate those myself and hope they line up?
when i got mine from classic ind the holes were punched for the handles etc but not through the vinyl. so it seemed they had no holes i would have flipped them upside down if the material would have not been glued on so well.
