RE: 66 SS396 build finally begins

Yes,  paint  it the original color for the car.  Almost looks like an almond fawn according to the firewall and jam areas,  But i might be wrong, its hard to tell.

Regardless,  go the original color the car was born with,  even if you dont really like it.

Bottom line? It's your car, you paint it how you want.

(And if you know how to read between the lines, that means paint it how your wife wants it....)

ya nailhead it is an original SS396 138 car, sandalwood tan, fawn interior, bench column shift powerglide car. No docs no original drivetrain. First of all, I'm not into tan or gold, my wife and son hate it. I would consider it cause Im nuts but anyways thats out. The car is going to be a 502 5 spd, vintage air, tilt power windows maybe kind of drive it hard show it car. Hey the deepwater blue is beauty too ! , now I am considering turqoise-black , red-black, black -black, black-red, black -white, danube blue-white or black int , and many many other colors and this is driving me nuts !!! I have to decide soooooon ! Wife loves the turqoise, red or black the most...

Elroy,

Paint it your favorite color, whatever it is, i'm sure it'll be a show stopper. Here is a link to the mystery chevelle. It looks black, but is a blue. Looks pretty nice, IMO. Just another color to get ur brian doing 110 in a 60 zone. Them red lines, and dog dish give that car the "look".  Chow

I love Black   my buddy has a 71 402 4 speed Monte (black)   The car takes some time to clean it and is always dirty 8 minutes later...

I have a opportunity to buy a duplicate car to his..  southern,454, 4 speed, and its black...  and I have to pass...

After cleaning white vehicles for years  I don't want to spend the rest of my days cleaning a black car EVERY time I drive it

To those who have the time  Good for you...
