Hi guys, my brother is tossing around the idea of parting with his dinged up, not too rusty original paint, black-black, complete, original engine 65 340 horse 409 4 speed Custom Sport. Its March 65 build, 1 of 74 and one of the 2 or 3 last built that we know of.
What kind of market is out there (or for that matter in here) for that?
Just thinking at this point but he is starting to realize that he really can't keep all the cars hes ever owned.
Here is a link to a rough youtube video I posted some time back if you need your memory refreshed.
That is a wicked car. How rusty is the frame? You could probably get around 10 for it the way it is. Being a Pontiac it does have less value than a Chevrolet whether all the Pontiac crazies want to admit it or not. Thank god it has a 4 speed.
Personally I always thought it was kind of ugly (always been an argument between me and my brother 65 versus 66) but maybe that adds to its nasty charm. I know it used to snarl through the gears with a lot of panache!

Mr. 409 [ Adam] is just speaking the truth. A bow Tie will sell twice as quick & for more $$$ than it's equivalent equipted Cdn. Pontiac!!!!! It's just a Chevy thing?????

its the unfortunet truth they are rare 19 produced but no one ecept us cares the wagon only appraised for 6 bills and the guy knows what it is so its not going anywere anytime soon
Hi Guys, there seems to be more of a consensus than I thought on Pontiac value versus Chev. Also just to be clear, (and I think 427 carl has helped a lot) this car is in Alberta and does not have the red interior. For a while we thought it might be the last one built but since then we have seen the Saskatchewan one with was built later and we have heard but not seen proof of another one built in April.
This car led to quite an animated and informative discussion about when Candian Pontiacs made the change over to the 396 option.
I'll go take some more pictures of it and post them and verify the frame questions.
Again , at this point my bother is just mulling it over and was looking to see how enthusistaic the guys on here would be.
I know that a running and driving very well documented '64 offered for $10,000 in Hemmings in December 2009 never sold.
Your brother's car has a lot of cache for the guys on here and may well be historically significant. A 409 4 speed 1965 Custom Sport would be near the top of my list for cars I'd love to own.
My dad had a 65 Laurentian and my cousin had a 65 red with white guts Custom Sport (283) so I do like the '65s. The 66's do have an Iconic Pontiac style that was shared with the Lemans line.
kind of ugly them fighting words everyone knows 65 are the sexyiest of all pontiacs and just plain mean 66 are too refind
carl whats wrong are you tempted its only a 340 horse, 15years ago i ran into a red and black one with a 400 horse in good shape for 15gs the were abouts of whch are unknown
Wow another one from my bucket list ,65's to me are right up there with the bubbletops. My brother had a convertable and a friend had a 300 hp/327/4 spd.Having just finished my 61 ,don't have space and I guess the cash. Story of my life, be a crime to part out.
so that 3 out of 19, i think standard parrisienes didnt come like this that often, and i just remembered a black o9 wagon that got parted out for a clone cs 409
