Unfortunately he didn't want to let me take the data tag info but you are right, I was surprised when it turned out to be a Parisienne. I wonder if there were any Strato Chiefs or Laurentians.
I just checked our registry and there are 5 409 cars there, your wagon plus a yellow one you spotted, the two black ones - all CS and the tourquoise Parisienne I just posted.
OK guys so the car deal that my brother was working on that was going to force the sale of the 65 409 ain't gonna happen so he tells me now that he'll keep it at least to drive through one summer.
He's planning to have it at the Red Deer super run pretty much warts and all (as it is)so if any of you are down there you can pressure him there and maybe he'll come home on the bus.
I am sorry for getting everybody's blood pressure up especially with this aging crowd. (heh heh)

The warts and all are what makes it so special. It's a Icon of Canadian Ponchodom.
probably not assembly line more than likely dealer installed but nothing is unheard off, i even heard the story about people ordering cars them arriving with the wrong engine then 09 being installed by the dealers and big discounts if people wanted them before the 396s arrived all rumors of course

A car like that is almost as cool as a big block factory air 66 Grande Parisienne...
That gave me a good chuckle Carl
This quote gave me a smile:
"It's a Icon of Canadian Ponchodom".
Pierre Berton could not have said something better!

What about 65 396s?... In the early 70s, a friend of mine bought a Pontiac wagon for the 396, took it and put it in his Firebird. I am pretty positive it was a 65, if not it was a 66
We've done quite a bit of digging but have never found a verified 65 396. We also know from some of the cars we have found that GM of Canada kept putting in 409's (in Pontiacs anyway) long after the states stopped. (We have a 409 car built as late as Mid April.)
The consensus here (until proven otherwise) is that Can Pontiac didn't actually offer the 396 until the 66 model year as it states in the sales brochure that the 396/ 427 is new for 66.
On the other hand we will quickly change our thinking if somebody actually comes up with a real one.
It would be real interesting to hear from the 65 chevy 409 guys in terms of latest build dates too.

Yes I was taking the 19 as a figure that had been verified from earlier in this post so it seems that the actual figure is much higher based on documentation from GM. I should also say that the 30 for 1964 is 30 340 HP cars so overall total would be greater as well. I will adjust my post.
Regarding 1965 396's we had satisfied ourselves that they do not exist from the factory. Nonetheless we would love to see a documented car.
