54 starter cover

located a new starter end cap with all new wiring,brushes,etc but it is listed for a 54 chev truck.Will it work for my pontiac 239 starter?

should clarify it is listed for 38-54 chevy,53-54 truck,235 chevy starter.

the motor of your chevy starter is the same as pontiac's starter, only the bendix side housing, you have to use your original starter housing. The chevy starter and pontiac are not on the same side of the engine. Most of the time replacing the housing is enough to give you a pontiac stater
