re-chrome or buying parts

Hi

I was wondering what i should do, I want restore my front end i know i can buy a bumper for my car its a1964 beaumont. A 1964 chevelle  bumper will fit it. The grill would have to chromed, but the basel around the light (would that have to be chromed) or can I buy parts for that. Are they the same. Now the two pieces  that i dont know about is the chrome piece that goes on the hood and the bottom piece (does that have to be chromed or can I buy that seperately. In a nut shell what I would like to know is can I buy parts that will match the car,ie 64 chevelle or a chevelle 300  or do I have to re-chrome the original parts.

Thanks for your help1964 ACADIAN 4.jpg

If the hood mldg. is stainless you can have it repaired & "buffed & polished" same with the H/lamp bezels [if stainless] Bumper will be a replace or rechrome, shop around for chrome, it's EXPENSIVE in Ontario, much cheaper out west but then you have shipping costs. Friend had 69 Cutlass frt. bumper done in Toronto, with repair in came to over $1400!!! Anybody else want to jump in???

I have 12 pieces in total, not including the bumper.
Will a 64 chevelle bumper fit my car?

The bumper should be the same.. it wont be as heavy of material.. but.. (if its a reproduction that is)
is your bumper that bad?
all your trim parts are pot metal, and I WISH there were reproductions to buy.. but no.. what you have is what is available unless you find a parts car or someone that has some stashed away and is willing to sell it.

IMG_1168-W1500.jpgJust As Kelico says. Nothing is reproduced.

How bad are your parts, really pitted or what??

It is not cheap to rechrome pot metal and not every shop wants to do it.

I would leave it all original,  unless your pot metal looks like it was lying in a brine field,  how bad could it be.  It adds character anyway.

The front bumper is reproduced, but it is never as good as an original.  If yours is straight, i would leave it.

Also,  rechoming will never get out all the pits in the potmetal, and will end up looking worse. Unless it is the best chome shop in the world, and then it will be pricey as hell.

Just my opinion,  your car looks great as is.

One more thing,  most of the grill is painted silver anyway, so why not mask and repaint the black and silver portions,   that will make a huge difference.

Also,  there is no stainless steel on the front of a 64 beaumont,  all the trim is cast pot.

K, just putting this out there.........! Try the site...OPGI (original parts group incorporated), click on select vehicle make and then year. Input chevelle and 64, then just use Auto Body Parts section and the bumpers are on the first page. $165.98 for the front. Whether its an EXACT match to a Beaumont I have no idea, but comparing the picture of yours with the pic on site they look the same. You can also call their service department and they will help you. I've used these guys for misc parts and they've been pretty good. Just check the shipping, its pricing to Canada, so if u have someone or an address they can deliver to in the states then pic up urself it may be cheaper, depending where your located.

Dont know if that helps, I hope so!

You might try Early Birds in Barrie. Not sure they are still in business though. (Your GM Muscle Car Restoration Specialists at Early Birds, http://www.early-birds.com , or email info@early-birds.com ). Be careful as they are famous for shipping something different than ordered.
