Thanks Carl. I will post pictures of the project soon. It's a 71 lemans convertible 400 with the enduro nose. I haven't done much yet and still have to find out what is hiding under the paint. Lots of fun to be had.

 Oh, very cool.

I have a customer with a 72 convert with the "$41 nose job", original owner but he won't part with it!

Be waiting for pictures of it...

Thanks Steve I also have a 454 sitting in my 97 suburban that is retired in the back of the garage. That is what got me started looking for a project. I thought the vortec 7.4 and drive train would be fun in a muscle car project and the electronic 4L80 trany. Would make it drive able for long drives to car shows. But I like the blue 400 in the GTO wanna be, so I may sell the suburban, or not. So little time.

Well Carl; if you ever have a camera with you when you are around your customers 72, I would love as many pictures of the car as you feel like taking. Mine has a long way to go befor it resembles original. It would be nice to know how the finish was underneath, as well as the engine compartment. I am missing many vacuum lines and hoses as well as the wiper reservoir. Thanks again

Nice car Carl! I had a 64 Acadian 4 door, three on the tree in high school, it was white and fun. Yours brings back a lot of memories. It never quit on me.

I am not sure if he would let me post pics. He pretty much keeps the car to himself. It's been in storage for a long time...

I would be happy to send my email address so they wouldn't be posted. I am most interested in the under side. It's hard to find out how it looked originally. Or some day I could drive my car down to Morris and say hello. No worries I won't be at that stage of the restoration for a while.

Keep your eyes on the "lounge" here. We get together for coffee in Winnipeg periodically.

And I try to do this out here in the sticks once each winter!

Next time I see him or talk to him I'll see if he would be ok with it.

Also have another customer, original owner 72 GTO hardtop 400 4 speed unrestored, but needs it. (not rusty though) Try as I might, he won't sell me that car either!

How long you had the Lemans, Is it a local car, built in Oshawa ? what's the color combo ?

I have had it for 2 whole weeks, found it in Tepeka Kansas. Built in Pontiac, it's a deep metal flake blue now but was built silver with black interior and black convertable top. TH400, 400ci/300 hp, enduro GTO wannabe nose, hood tach, am/ fm cassette ( missing ), trailer towing medium duty package, power windows, manual Air Conditioning, console, rally sport II 14 inch rims, disc brakes and rally stripes. And a few other options I can't remember right now. I plan on getting the safety work done and maybe go to the devils run on June first, then a body off rottisery restoration. Seems solid but some paint bubbles which I hope is from the amateur paint prep. Solid trunk pan new floor pans, dirty but rust free engine compartment and frame.

Did it not have the original engine. Is that why your looking for the ys block ? Just wondering.

I think most the verts were built in Pontiac or Baltimore.. If your looking for an am/fm Cassette for it , I know a guy here in Kamloops that has two of them.  Being a Lemans Vert with the Endura option .. Makes her a rare baby goat..  If you don't have the YS block that was in there , then what you should be looking for if you are wanting to get close in numbers is a Service Replacement Block.. Or just go with a 400 block with any code or one that is close..

The block is a 1973 Y4 400ci block and 4X heads also 1973. Run real well great for smoking the one tire due to the open rear end. The folks next door better have a sense of humor.
