Great work you're doing there. There's quite a few closet Buick fans on here. I've had two Skylarks- a 70 which I cloned into a GS and a 71.

You what would appear to most as a solid car until you dig deeper and find the cancer.....rust and then the fight begins. I am very impressed with your skills, and talent. That is a life long dream of mine to build a car from start to finish one day. Great car, great pics. cant wait to see it finished. Kudos myfriend

Here are some before & after pictures I created. The "Before" picture is scanned from the 1970 Buick brochure; the "After" picture is what I created in trying to see what a 1970 version of the GS California or GS Colorado would look like. I prefer the GS grille and cleaned up hood without the lettering.

An interesting note is that Buick put a little emblem on the sail panel if you ordered an optional vinyl roof cover.

Dan, I forgot to say that I really am impressed with your build and the vision you have for it. I am looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I can only recall seeing 2 Buick Skylark posts of your vintage in the last 20+ years; a stock red '71 back around 1990, and more recently a yellow modified one with black painted window frames within the last year or so.

I would expect the body structure to be stronger with the post body style as opposed to the common hardtop.

The window frames look like they could be added onto a 1970-72 Chevelle to create a 2-door post Chevelle. I guess since Chevrolet had the X-body Nova post and the other divisions didn't have an X-body post (yet), Pontiac, Oldsmobile & Buick offered economy 2-door posts on the A-body lines.

I am glad you liked the 1970 renderings. Let me follow up with a before & after 1971 Skylark post (what a difference wheels & tires make).

I love the seldom seen Buick Rally that resembles the Chevy Rally except it has a Buick doggie dish cap for a center. Perfect for a post car. I remember looking at a 70 GS Stage 1 that was for sale in about 1988 with these wheels.

There's a 70-72 (not sure which it is) post car in a wrecking yard I got to. It was a 3 on the tree. I mentioned it on a Buick forum and a guy offered me a good buck to pull the clutch linkage and the speedometer and sell to him, which I did. I understand those pieces are a tough find for those years of Buick.

No, was that one you pictured available on Skylark? The ones on the Stage 1 convertible are what I'm talking about.
