best recommended plugs for 60 261

     I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations on what would be the best spark plugs  on my motor. It is a 1960 261 with        81 000 original on speedometer. I am only guessing that this is a true claim of condition of car and of story that it has sat for years.

I am going to try my luck and run this motor without touching it as it runs so smooth and doesnt leak a drop of oil. (single barrel carb rebuilt).

Thanks Nailhead. going out today to order shocks today, I will pick up my plugs. Unfortunately I need to also get a set of rear shock mount bolts as I broke 1 while removing the shocks.

Personally, I would say if at all possible, use AC Delco plugs as first choice.

Although I don't want to hi-jack the thread..but what would be the correct plug for the 327 Carl?

I didn't check the parts book but it seems to me that is right, yes. Shawn, did you go with stock compression pistons? I kind of forget.

0.035 is what I have found so far.

I must say thankyou to Turn2Stone as I thought a gap was the distance between sparkplug and where you thread it in to the motor.

Could be a silly question but what would be the gap for the plugs on a 261

Most likely it's .035 but I'm not near a book right now to check.

Its the space between the center electrode and the side electrode. Sorry couldnt resist, hopefully someone will chime in with a more mature answer shortly.

Hey Carl,

Yes we did..worked out to 10.1:1 actual compression ratio. It's looking like the heads will be ready by next weekend so I'm planning for next weekend to beginning the swap...
