Syracuse Nationals

Heard a few members go to this. After seeing it at Mega Speed this weekend I am curious about going.

For those who go, where do you stay?

Every attendance record was broken once again in 2011! The car count climbed to 7,589 show cars. Five Canadian provinces and 40 US states where represented at the NY State Fairgrounds. Over 86,748 fans attended the three day event under clear blue Central New York skies.

More than 400 national and local vendors were on hand for enthusiasts to purchase any part imaginable for their cars. Our 570 on-site campsites where sold out, months in advance.

Each year thousands of the hottest cars line the streets of Syracuse early Friday morning waiting to enter the fairgrounds for this monumental car event.

We stay over by the Holiday Inn ( Host Hotel) I have friends that camp, but word to the wise, it's usually stinking hot there, and it is kinda nice to get in out of the heat for the evening once you are done. The camp ground can also be down wind of the burnout pad & dirt race track, kinda dusty. I know guys have slept on the grounds under lowered sun shade canopys, they don't seem to like them left up at night. It's a long hot day, hotel, shower & AC sounds like a deal to me. I usually trailer my cars through the border, the long waits in the heat are not good on the old iron.

I do appreciate a good hotel room. But since I am the only one going it'll be expensive just for me.

How much room do you have in the camper, Steve?

My gasoline bill was more than the hotel bill to go to Woodward and back.

The first few Syracuse Nationals were the best with all the burnouts, they don't seem to like that anymore,,,

I have gotten to know a few of the Dewitt Troopers down there over the years and we set up a few pictures of the cars.
