Here she is, painted with the cam and crank installed. Funny thing though, when we started to put the rob bearings in, one set was different, just like the pistons. So back to where I bought them to swap them out...LoL!!
Attached is a pic..it's kinda blurry, but you'll get the idea...
Thanks Steve, so I picked up a new water pump, oil pump, cam lock and button today. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll have an oil pan and have the one rod bearing replaced with the correct one.
Stopped by George's today..things are progressing nicely. The heads are cleaned..and getting ready for the new valve guides and the 3 angle grind...the valve covers are all cleaned up and ready for paint as well as the Edelbrock intake is cleaned up and ready to go..I suspect by the end of the month, we'll be completing the build and doing the swap!
Looks like we're going to be ready to do the final build this weekend Carl,
Just picked up the fuel pump, have to order the valve seals and the oil filter adapter O ring...and we should be ready to go!! Once it's built..then we'll do the swap!
By now it's likely old school but I was taught when I was a teen that you soak both sides of the head gasket with auto trans fluid before installing it. I'm sure these days some makes something that "works much better" but I've never had a head gasket issue yet on an engine I've done, which isn't a big amount, maybe 15 or so.

How are you going to reattach the PCV canister inside the valley? looks like that thing covers up the screw hole. And yes you need to reinstall that canister.
If you end up with funny rattling sounds coming from your fresh motor, its probably that valley pan.
But that is just my opinion
