Love it... is that a flip down front plate?

Yes it is and I bought that one.

Once you see them they are so simple. I think next time I would just make my own.

Beautiful work!  I like that soooo much better than the new Camaros.  Thanks for sharing the build details.

I hate to sound like a safety nazi, but that Trans Am steering wheel center cap mounted on the airbag - is there any chance that it could turn into a projectile should the airbag ever go off?  Not a criticism, but I'd rather mention it and have it not be a problem than not say anything and find out later that it caused an injury...

That's just an amazing car!  Now, if only GM could take the lead....  smile

Ya...I thought about that....believe it or not!!!

Depends what day you ask whether it should come off or not. I am already working on another way to dress up the steeringwheel center that is less likely to injure me in the event that the air bag does go off. I have already removed the air bag and ground out the CAMARO lettering on the air bag and I am now am thinking on installing a small piece of plastic with lettering on it.

If Chrysler can bring back Barracuda with Plymouth dead, GM can bring back Firebird..and maybe they will if 'Cuda comes back..

In my opinion, anything you can do to reduce the mass on the airbag cover is a good thing.  These things go off with incredible force, creating a dangerous situation if anything is hurled at you.

In this video, notice that the time from setting it off to full deployment is 20 milliseconds!!  Also take note on how the airbag cover blows out and folds down below the airbag.  These covers are designed to split open in a particular way, so I'm thinking anything attached to their surface is just going to fly off in an uncontrolled manner.
