Come on lottery winning ! My favorite TA ! Not to many of these made and the price is reasonable if it's all #s match, I've seen them over $100 000 on Epay ...
Just about bought one in about 1982. Orange with 4 Spd and 60,000 miles on it. $3000 right off the GM dealer's lot (trade in). Took it for a great road test on a twisty road in BC.
my cuz had the same car in blue when we were kids, what a fun car, and it was a sd 455 4spd, we used to leave the lights in second and smoke the TA's for a full block like we were on ice and it would do 140 MPH like nothing, i like that car in white to.
love that car. Used to cruise in a 74 SD same colors, auto and that car is still in this area. Our dealership put on hooker headers, cam , linelocks and a 2500 stall converter man that thing went !
Hey Cam, Surprised you didn't indicate in your otherwise thorough post that the SD was also available in the Formula with shaker hood, the only Formula to be offered this way. Note no Screaming Chicken.

The Super Duty flew in the face of what was happening at the time. The EGR valves, smog pumps, TCS, lean mixures, coupled with growing punishment from insurance companies, made the Super Duty something that was intruduced just after its time. I think Pontiac had cast all the parts to make 1000 engines, but only 600 (aprox) were installed into cars. The other 400 sets of parts disappeared into factory worker's lunch boxes! Seriously. Many people were adverse to the screaming chicken hood decal so it was made optional, not standard. The SD455 Trans Am in 1973 was only offered in white, Brewster Green or Buccaneer Red. Brewster Green was dropped for 74 and replaced with Admiralty Blue as one of the 3 choices. That car is no "poser" for sure. Worth a lot more than the regular L75 455 or later L78 400. The SD455 was a better engineered motor than the earlier 455 H.O., which was also awesome.

I was gonna say, but I didn't want to give anyone indigestion . Yes, Formulas with the SD455 were prduced in 73 & 74 with about 34 to 43 units each year. Rare!

and Grand Prix's as far as the option book and parts book are concerned, but none produced ??
I even saw an early Grand Prix brochure that even showed the NASA hood with the SD 455 option at a swap, should have bought it. Can you imagine a Luxury LeMans with a SD455?
