May 2012 Feature Car

Our unique Canadian Poncho's are a rare site in the United States. For those folks south of the border who own one, it's fun to see people at local car shows try to figure out just what these cars are. Peter Hall knows those reactions quite well. Peter lives in Klamath Falls, Oregon and owns this beautiful 1969 Beaumont Convertible. When he's not confusing folks at cruise night he can be found driving this sweet car with the top down soaking up the sunshine and feeling the wind in his face.

Paul tells us more about his fine '69:

I found this Beaumont locally ( Klamath Falls, OR) on Craigs list. It was sold in Ontario. It then went south to New Jersey in 1971 or 72. It was then sold to my current neighbor. After he purchased her he was relocated out west to Sunny California( San Fransisco). This was the best thing that could of happened to this car due to the low humidity and dry climate out west. That would explain why the trunk, quarters and floors are in  like new condition.

Then he was relocated again to northern California, only about 20 miles from souther Oregon. He had her here for many years and I only saw this car one time in ten years before it went up for sale. He then was relocated to Reno Nevada. This time he would not have the garage space for the old 69 so along came Pete. Now I have her on the road every chance I get. The Beaumont had one repaint many years ago.  The top is still original and is in great working order. The 307 is long gone now but had a new crate 350 installed about 30k miles ago. I have installed a dual exhaust with some nice sounding mufflers. Not to loud but not quiet either. Last month I went through the brakes and converted the front to discs. Need the safety for my wife and son!

I also have all the original papers that came with the car as well as the owners manual and the protecto plate.. I believe there were less than 500 conv made that year.

I went down to Kool April Nites in Redding Cal with her this past weekend and had almost everyone fooled. They were thinking it as a Chevy. It was very  funny to see some of them trying to figure out what a Beaumont was. The Beaumont still has the original windsheld and AM radio, and it still works. I have been into classics for over 30yrs and have had many show cars. This one will be a driver for a while I slowly restore her. I also have a couple of different sets of rims I will be swapping on her.  I wasn't into the original hub caps anymore which were still on the car when I purchased it.

Thanks for considering her for a feature article.

Awesome! Not many have the original tops (or windshields)! Great to see that little maple leaf on the wheel.
Great choice for feature car...

Nice story on your car. Neat to see such a solid original car. Have a similar story when I went to the Chevelle convention just out of Portland in 2010.

Very nice 69 Beaumont ragtop - thanks for sharing.

I had a red 69 Beaumont rag with a 396 in it that I sold about 10 years ago in Victoria - I wonder what ever happened to that car - sure had lots of fun in that car!
