Torque for rocker

I'm putting a rocker back on the engine and am wondering how much torque I have to tighten it to or do I just tighten it with a regular rachette. Thanks

Slowly tighten the nut until you feel resistance when you spin the pushrod. Once you can feel that resistance, tighten the nut another 1/2 turn.

*****Disclaimer***** Some opinions may differ as to how much to turn the nut once there is resistance in turning the pushrod!

Lifter must also be on the bottom of the cam lobe. Valve closed.

i adjust till there's no up/down movement in the pushrod, then 1/2-3/4 turn.

Don't you have to pre lube or pressurize the oiling system to make sure the lifter is actually pumped up as well? To the point that oil flows out the pushrod.

You can set them with engine running. A little messy but fast. Tighten until clacking goes away. Then with engine off 3/4 turn more.

I', like the rest of you are "assuming" this is a SB/BB Chevy she is asking about???? If not, then some of the tips are incorrect!!! If Chevy , I still like to "set em" w/it running, use the "rocker clips" to stop the oil spray,or a rag [cheaper]

Sorry. It's a 283 and it's in a 63 Pontiac Parisienne. It's not running yet
