My buddy and I scrapped one years ago... I got the carpet and Leather seats out of it and installed them in my '60 Chev panel truck.....
My dad bought a new one (4-door sedan) and I asked him what as he thinking.... It was fully loaded , the same Mags and Bright Yellow, with a black vinal roof????? Yeah, What was He thinking??????

Apparently AC was standard on all Matador's. I suspect it was cheaper for AMC to engineer AC into all of them.

While out for a drive last evening we saw another Matador ( not a wagon ) in Wasaga Beach. 2 Matadors in the same town - what are the chances?

quite possibly the ugliest wagon in the history of station wagons!

Clark W Griswold is the only person that would buy this travesty on wheels

I liked these wagons a lot up to 73 - both Matador  and Ambassador. But the later 70s restyle with the extended nose wasn't very successful.

Check out the phone/CB thingy.

I worked at AMC in Brampton in the 70s...As ugly as they were, those were actually a decent car... That CB thing was a built in AM/FM/CB Radio combination.......I had one, wont say how I got it...pretty cool in the 70s

Well, you'd have the only one at a car show. It's cool in an ugly sort of way!! I was a kid in the '70's and I don't really remember these but I do recall the Hornet's. Back around '86 I remember a '75 Hornet "X" on a Honda lot for sale, really liked the car but I bought a '77 Grand Lemans 2dr instead.

Just like a song that just doesn't get old or boring no matter how many years go by,the matador reminds me of that when ever I see one.Pardon me,I feel like I'm going to puke now.
