My new 64 Beaumont Wagoon!

No, it was a barn car from the Pemberton area on the mainland. It's really  in good shape for it's age. It's missing it's side trim on the mid line and the rear seat which is unfortunate but the rest is there. It came from another body shop nightmare. Paul.

As if I needed another but these are hard to come by and this one is definitly a saver. This is the first one that I have seen in person for 1964. It's a 283 three on the tree but it would make a great bench seat 4 spd. Hint Hint! Paul.biggrin

Yah the two tone is cool. I will keep you in mind. I have all the glass but the trim around the rear glass seems to be missing and the trim for the top edge of the tailgate is ruff also.

Those rear lights are the same as chevelle/elcamino.

with ONE exeption,  the lower lens is RED instead of Clear. because the chevelles were back-up and the beaumont had the back-ups in the bumper instead.  You may have to persuade a manufaturer to cast some in red for you.

The side trim on a custom and a base are the same,  just the front fender pieces that are different.  customs go all the way to the front,   base goes only 12" forward

Do you have the rear seat hinges and the metal back and piano hinge for folding?  the seat should be able to modify from a sedan, as long as you have the metal parts.

I have owned a 64 beaumont custom wagon and a few 64 chevelle wagons, thats how i know all these little details about 64 beaumont vs chevelle stuffbiggrin

Here is my chevelle wagon that i drive,  had it for 13 years,   been all over the place with it.

I will try to find pics of the beaumont wagon,  but all the pictures are Pre-Digital camera,  so i will have to scan them

Here is a pic of the back of the 64 beaumont custom,

NOTE your car should not have the large cast acadian trim,  only a lettering

Also a pic of a 64 chevelle wagon for comparison.

I will have to get some pics of the rear seat at a later time

65 taillights are one piece, so totally different

Questions:  is the hard back of the seat and the tailgate inside panel a texture pattern or a waffle square pattern?   Mine being a mailbu/custom has the waffle pattern

Also,  is your gate window crank or power?

The upper stainless trim that the tailgate window slides up into?

I should have some extras of that, i will have to look,

there is also some U-channel with window fuzzie that the gate window slides up into, it is simillar in design to a vent glass channel on a front door.

Question:  what do your gas tank straps look like?

I have seen 2 designs on canadian wagons

One is simmilar to the sedan with straps running the lenght of the tank and large floor braces welded to the underside of the cargo area,  same as a sedan.  Tank sits very high, almost above the frame

the second is the usual wagon ones where the tank sits on 2 large frame braces that run widthwise between the frame rails.  All US cars use this disign, but only about 1/2 the canadian ones.  Thus the tank sits lower.

A real curiosity in build style for sure.  and only us wagon nerds will understand!

Nice wagon Paul. What's the story on the "body shop nightmare"?

Just noticing it is a plain "beaumont"  not a "beaumont custom"

your side window trim will be painted body color,  i only have the stainless stuff from a custom/malibu.

My custom wagon does not have trim on the top of the gate,  i wonder if that is just a base model piece?

Love it!!!!

The story is that the son of the original owner took it in for a scuff and paint as it was complete and clean. The next time he checked on it the fellow had ripped the motor apart, shaved the side trim, and lost a pile of parts. From what I can see I think the person was just not used to what was needed to fix a car like this. The son freaked out and removed the car and the parts were lost eg, rear window trim, rear seat, tail lights, front seat ( but I have one). The car then was sold twice and then I bought it. The funny thing is the body guy wasn't doing bad work. He stripped most of it to bare metal and epoxied it, removed all the glass except the doors so he really has saved the next owner a lot of time and money. As for the parts that are missing only time will tell if I get most of them. I think the side mid trim is a next to impossible so it won't go back on if I do it. Really just the taillights, rear glass trim, tailgate top trim, and rear seat are the  only wish list at this point, and really I could make a 4 door seat work for the rear. Paul

Yes it is the plain model, but there is one piece of the side window trim and it was stainless so I think that trim would work. The gate trim is a different thing so I will post a pic tonight. I also want to assemble most of the tail gate inners to make sure nothing else is missing. I think 65 el Camino taillights would work just fine for the rear? Can you post the assembly for the rear seat so I know what I'm looking for because it folds right? I don't know if I ever seen a a picture of your wagon either. As for the color if I do who knows but the two tone will stay. Paul.

Wouldn't the 65 el camino have double reds because they have the bumper back up lights. I know the 64 wouldn't but the 65 should. It looks like I have those hinges ( they look like side tail gate hinges), no piano hinges , but I have the metal back of the seat but I have no idea how they assemble yet. Paul.

Keep the questions coming because tonight I will check it all out. I am not in a rush either for the parts because the 65 Cheetah is the next car to be built. I just couldn't leave this one behind. They really are quite neat. I will see if I can find a donar car but otherwise we can work out a list. Paul.

So the gas tank has north, south straps and it looks like I need the tailgate window lower track,  the inside outside rear side window trim, and the upper tailgate trim. Plus the rest listed. I also included a picture of the rear seat hardware that's left. Paul. cry

Thats the type of donor I need. A clip for the 64 Chevelle ss 4 spd car and the missing parts on this wagon. I'm hoping one will turn up for cheap. I just have to be patient. I said to my wife maybe I should just take this car to sell at the swap meet and she said no, sell another. She also said I need to jack the rear end up like a 1980's trans am and put big tires on it. That always makes me laugh the little red neck! Paul.
