1964 Parisienne Custom Sport convertible

I'm new to the site and I don't own a Pontiac right now but I did a long time ago and I have been trying to track it down . It was white with red interior , 409 four speed . I lose the trail at a wrecking yard near Kingston ontario around 1980 . The owner of the yard told me his son dragged it home to Oakville to restore it but I can't find it registered anywhere so it may be in a garage somewhere . If anyone out there has any info on it I would like to hear about it . Also if anyone out west on here knows of it being sold new in (I think Saskatchawan) but it wasn't there long as he was military and got transfered to Kingston . Thanks for any help I can get,,Wally,,

Welcome to Canadian Poncho Wally. Do you still have the VIN of the car? If so, have you checked with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation?

Hi Wally, all the best with your quest. That's a nice-sounding rare car (about 8 built)! I love '64 Parisiennes.

Unfortunately what you said here,   "409 four speed . I lose the trail at a wrecking yard near Kingston ontario around 1980 . The owner of the yard told me his son dragged it home to Oakville to restore it but I can't find it registered anywhere so it may be in a garage somewhere" doesn't give much hope. A lot of nice engines were torn out of (rare) cars. Check this recent thread out: http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t49481302/1964-parisienne-parts-car/

Like I said, all the best. If you do track it down, let us know.

I thought putting it out on this sight would be the good way to do it . Thanks everyone for your interest . I only hope that he knew what he had and didn't part it out or change it in a baddddd way . I have the serial number from an old insurance policy and could not find it registered in canada ( or U.S.A.) so I did a historical search with G.M. and found all the info correct . I did this to verify the serial number as much as anything but I was also curious to see if the car when I had it was as sold and not changed much . Thanks again and I hope being on here and people talking it up something will show up,,,Wally,,,

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but Wally is a friend of mine. Still no word on this car. '64 Custom Sport Convertible, originally White with White top and Dark Red trim, 409-340 hp and 4-Speed. Believed to have been sent to the Oakville ON area, early '80s. Registration check Canada-wide shows nothing current (via CPIC).
Has anyone seen or heard anything about such a car?

Hey, thanks for the tip.

But you never know...with enough "distilled persuasion"...biggrin

Kinda' sounds like one of two 409 cars Jerry Paquette told us about that they sold from their dealership in Debden SK. Remember the 409 black on red guts I found a few winter's back. Jerry said a white convertible and a black hardtop were sold at their dealership, Paquette in Debden SK.  If I'm not mistaken Jerry's brother did the pre-delivery on both cars.

If you want to spend an hour reading a great story on finding the black 409:

Now THAT'S quite a story...thanks Ray!
"1 of 8" '64 Custom Sport Convertibles, 409-340 4-Speed? Now that IS rare...

A side story:
A co-worker of Wally's bought an off-the-lot NEW '65 Parisienne Convertible, 327-300 4-Speed, Black with White Top and White Bench (red carpet) for a fantastic price. The car was custom-ordered by someone else who, when a '65 GTO Hardtop (Red with White Buckets, 4bbl 4-Speed) showed up first, cancelled the Parisienne and bought the Goat. The Parisienne sat 'n sat, until the co-worker took an interest and the dealer "made him an offer he couldn't refuse". 4-Speeds weren't a common "inventory" item for most dealers, back then...

Hey Ray

Glad you remembered, the convertible we sold back then was a white 409 dual 4 bbl 4spd but had a blue interior and it met its demise up in northern Alberta someplace, (probably part of a fridge now), nobody remembers where but seems to me it was in the Peace River District so the car LOWDOWN is looking for may still be available??.

So good luck and welcome, I understand your quest, I'm still looking for my original 1967 Beaumont Custom 327 4sp bench seat car I had back in Debden.

Gerry P

Sometimes a sister is better than nothing. Most of these cars, even big blocks, just got crushed. I suppose if he was out in farm country it could be sitting in a barn somewhere. In the city here, space is so dear that people just seemed to have everything hauled away. I found the scrappers to be really annoying. They'd drag everything off for a few measly dollars. Damn shame, really.

If it was seen in the 80's   the licence plate would be registered ?  right ?   MTO goes to 1973

some pre 73 stuff remains but very limited, if u owned the car before the change over to the plates stay with the owner system not with the car, and u kept owning after the change somtimes it shows up but usually not...any plate that uve ever owned 73 forward will come back to u, on a car or hanging on the wall, they stay registered with your DL number..some of the old plates that were on peoples cars when the system changed were re registered to the owner..ive not been able to tell if this was done accidently or did most people just opt for a new plate at the time, thus breaking the paperwork trail... its possible to do a reverse query on an unattched plate that says all cars its ever been on, but the mto wont release the info unless its cars and plates that belong to u..

as an example, my dad bought a new 72 cutlass...i cant get anything form the system prior to nov 1973..  friends dad bought new 68 chevelle, his original plate made the transition to the new system and it goes back in the sytem to 68
