Hi gents - another price drop!

1968 Caprice Estate Wagon with 325hp 396 - a garage kept California 9 Passenger woody wagon that redefines the term loaded.  This car has an almost perfect interior!

·        Factory red on black

·        Not original motor but has rebuilt 1968 dated IV code 325hp 396 engine and 1968 dated TH400

·        This car starts right up and runs very strong.  I went through everything a few years ago - rebuilt engine, new fluids and seals on the trans, rebuilt 4 piston caliper disc brakes redone with stainless steel sleeves, rebuilt rear brake cylinders, turned the rotors, new master cylinder, silicone brake fluid.  However, the last time I drove it was two summers ago - and although it has been in the nice warm garage the whole time, you should expect some minor tinkering to be sure its safe and reliable for everyday driving.  

Car sounds great! Has a 3inch flowmaster dual system. 

·        One major highlight of this car is that the original interior is in very nice condition - very rare to find a wagon in this shape.

·        Another major bonus on this woody is the full list of factory installed options showing on the factory build sheet glued to the interior panel including: 

o   9 passenger with rear seat and bumper step,

o   Rear Window deflector

o   power rear window interior switch and light,

o   roof luggage rack,

o   Comfortron AC,

o   fender lamps,

o   bumper guards,

o   rally wheels,

o   dual exhaust,

o   Power windows,

o   Power Steering,

o   tinted glass,

o   deluxe seat belts,

o   tilt steering,

o   fiber optics,

o   hideaway headlights,

o   Positraction, 

o   power seat,

o   power 4 piston Disc Brakes, 

o   tachometer  and gauges,

o   am/fm,

o   8 track stereo,

o   auto-leveling air shocks.

·        Body has minor rust and a few dents but is an easy restoration.

The 427 wagon was quite unique.  STill had original paint, engine and was basically untouched except for a Coleman compressor for blowing up air matresses and a 1970s car alarm.

I tracked down the original owner's son who sent me loads of info on the car including documents - order new by his family to pull an air stream trailer and I got photos of the car in Vancouver in 1969.

Has the 385hp 427, PS, Discs, posi, tach, Pwindows and PSeat, HD cooling and that was it.

Wow, that red thing is truly loaded. Hidden headlight, fiber optic light monitoring, automatic load levelling shocks, tilt, sport steering wheel, Comfortron automatic a/c, remote mirror....

Who would have ever thought there would come a day when the phrase "that is a cool station wagon" would be uttered?

 

My daily driver is a wagon. It is a loaded 2010 VW Passat with 18" wheels & sport suspension, 600-watt 10 speaker stereo, built-in GPS, steerable, self-levelling HID headlights. It took me months and a lot of "no's" to get it with a 6-speed manual.

 Very nice wagons Dave. Especially love the green 427 car. You can see why the original owner had it - it's probably what you needed to haul one of those trailers back in those days.

The white one was also kinda interesting.  It is a factory 307 with 3 speed standard on the column with overdrive and a 4:10 rear end.  Totally bare of options - no AC, no convenience equipment  - just PS, PB and am radio.

Check out the clutch pedals and the AIR pump.

Makes you wonder why they didn't order a Biscayne wagon and save almost $900 - which was 1/3 the cost of the car!

This was a pretty clean car from CA as well.  Sold it last year.

Only have 9 more cars to sell now.

Thanks and thanks - I hate to sell the wagon - its so practical and fun.  I found the car with  no motor/tranny and lucked I out on the both when I put them in - they work well together.

In my opinion the car needs quieter exhaust - the 3" system is pretty loud after a while.

i just bought a 68 caprice wagon, factory 427, th400,a/c, tach.& guages , f41,wood wheel, roof rack, pwr disc brakes, rallies, pw.....i have been waiting a long time for this one!
