It happened Monday,I've been working on this for days now with Bill,we are both very bothered by it.When I am ready to share more details I will,at this point thats where it's at.I'm going personally to get car.Thanks for the support.It's totally driver error,maybe that has something to do with it.

 strange yes, but maybe its just the trucking company paying-if it were the car insurance they likely wouldn't even pay just cause it hasn't been imported and titled yet

You know, given the historical significance and super rarity of your car I would be curious as to what legal grounds you would have in getting that car restored. It was a solid & original car. I would really hate to see it get parted. It would be cost effective and expedient, but if we were cost effective and expedient then collector cars wouldnt mean anything to us enthusiasts. If the car is bashed but solid, a skilled bodyman could get it back into shape. Skilled use of a Jackman puller, some deft hammer & dolly work could salvage what many would see as scrap. Damaged moldings for these cars can be a real problem to replace though.

Man, if was driver error I would want to KILL that driver. I wonder if there is any legal recourse to get the car back into the shape it was? If they pay you in full that is one thing, but seriously I wonder if there is more available if you push? It was not your fault after all, and replacing that car with another 1968 SD396 convertible in the same shape are practically non-existent. I guess that is why companies become limited, as in limited liability. Anyway, keep an open mind trucker. Again, I am devastated by the loss of that car. Geez, I live about 2 hours away from where the car was. If I had the money & space available I couldve driven that thing the short drive to the North Chevelle Gathering on Grand Island, then driven home with the top down.

 coulda/shoulda/woulda -me too, Bill actually contacted me prior to posting it for sale-makes me even more sad that it is now wrecked-you know how much of an enthusist I've been with these Canadian Pontiacs over the years ! as for more dollars ? I doubt it-insured for appraised value under a classic policy and thats it-if you don't have 19A they negotiate it down, if theres no appraisal and only a bill of sale often an independant will write on it-things must have gone well if trucker settled already

What a horror story...I hope you can salvage and rebuild. This is every man's nightmare when his car(s) are in the hands of someone else.

 I imagine this will give car transportation companies a bad rap (some likely deserve it). TFX from Etobicoke recently delivered 2 cars for me...without incident. They were very professional from start to finish, excellent service.

 I'm sure its frustrating but I'll say the bad word-"it is just a car"-a rare cherry one but just a car in the end-many people have lost a child/parent/sibling this way or are disabled etc... a couple weeks back this car wasn't even thought of-if you get back to the original state prior to knowing about it you are good-sorry I know it must be frustrating
