I have decided to start looking to see what is available in white wall tires and what the cost will be. I took my spec sheet with me to the tire store when I could the oil changed in the truck this morning. Because the specs called for bais ply 7.75x14x2, he wasn't should what the metric conversion would be. He said he would have to do some searching, so I offered to ask you guys. It might save him a little time cause you guys probably already know.

So this is what is listed in the sheets...

 

 

Under the standard heading it reads

 

size, ply rating & ply: 7.75x14x2(4ply rating) station wagon.

 

Type: Bais

 

Full rated In flation Pressure: Front: 22 st.Wagons

Rear: 32 St. Wagons

 

Rev/mMile at 50 MPH:803(7.35x14x2); 779(7.75x14x2)

 

 

Under the Optional heading:

 

size, plyrating, & ply:

 

7.75x14x2(4 ply rating)

7.75x14x4(8 ply rating)-export only

F70x14x2(4 ply rating)

 

Seems a little confusing to me. If any one speaks tire language maybe you could help me with the appropriate tire size and maybe a direction for pricing, if there is any place different then the regular tire stores?

 

If this topic is reduntant I apologize, sometimes it's easier to reask the question then to search for the answer that may not be there. wink

hope you have good luck, white walls are getting very hard to find.
i was lucky to find some Firestone F185/75 r14's in white rock.
even the firestone dealer could not get any for me..

Yes, 14 inch and even common 15 inch sizes are being discontinued and are getting hard to find. For example BFG is no longer making TA radials in 15 inch sizes.

I put Cooper Trendsetters on my 2+2 a couple of years ago and they've been great.

Looking on their website (coopertire.com) it looks like they have a 205/70/R14 with whitewalls still available.

Try Costco. Even though the BFG tires I use are going out of production I managed to order a set of 225-70 15 and a set of 235-70 15. 

You might still be able to get some 14 inch sizes, though they are getting scarce. Not sure about whitewalls though. 

Cooper also still makes some 14 inch tires I understand.

So these are the tires and rims that I already have that will fit my wagon. They came

off my Jimmy that I sold last November. They will be going on when the front ends goes

back on. I am curious to see what she'll look like with WW(silly or notwink). For the time being

she will be stock, cause I really just want to drive her, so no frills...not even a radio. Just want to

get her on the road!
