Sure beats lugging around 9 full size mats.

They have been doing this for decades ... making salesman samples of furniture, pianos, tractors, woodstoves, etc. Some old salesman samples are worth thousands & thousands of dollars now, more than the actual full size item.

The only thing is that they are American issue.

A Canadian mat from the sixties would have this emblem (mine):
