If you contact GM Historic with your VIn and some $ they will send you a sheet that will tell you how many Laurentian  2dr posts were made. I think they were pretty popular.

1442  2 door Laurentian sedans were built in 1955. Appx 31,000 55 Canadian Pontiacs were built in 55. 70% of all 55 production were 6 cylinders. The most popular car was the plain jane 55 pathfinder 4 dr sedan. I have the exact production numbers of all models but would have to look it up.

Post all the info off your data plate and I will decode it for you.  The only extra info GM Canada will have available is the selling dealer and maybe the shipping date. They do not have any option info available on record for our 55's. For the car to be a 2 dr Laurentian it must be a 2011D model. Without the D it is a Pathfinder deluxe.

5 2011 6 10878

5=1955

2011  2door Laurentian  or Pathfinder Deluxe

6=261 six cylinder

10878 sequence number of all 1955 Pontiacs built in   Canada

Body 515  sequence number of 2 dr sedan Laurentians in 1955

Trim 603 Light Blue Vinyl/ Dark Blue Pattern Cloth

Paint 551  Lancer Blue   which is a dark blue with which looks like it has a metallic in it.

Engine W 7075  261 six cylinder sequence number for 1955

2011D This number is the only verification the car is a Laurentian not a Pathfinder Deluxe by the additional letter D

Up to the production of your car 10878 there were 7075 six cylinders produced  and 3803 265 V8's

As far as options go GM has no record of options installed on each car. If I could look at your car I could tell you what options and option numbers it has and what accessories were installed. The most common options were signal lights and heavy duty suspension the latter more on station wagons and Laurentians.

They will be able to tell you when your vehicle was produced, usually the dealer it was shipped to or sold by and the number produced of that model.

5 2019 6 23167

5= 1955

2019  4 door pathfinder deluxe or laurentian

23167  sequence number of all 55 pontiacs built in Canada

Engine W16680  Sequence number of 261 six cylinder for 1955

Paint 555=Sunsand Beige   A = would usually mean the top was a different colour or a fleet order. What is a little confusing is your car with the interior code 605 was only available in one two tone Sunsand Beige autumn Bronze code 572

Trim 605  Beige Vinyl/ Dark Tan Pattern Cloth

Model 2019D  Laurentian 4 door sedan

Regards   Al

The green on your car if original was called Highland Green code 554. This colour was probably added by a dealer or owner at some point in the cars history. Check inside the trunk  and see if it is sunsand beige.

Likley a repaint, My 55 was originally Coral and Grey that was apparently not manly enough out west. The fellow we bought it from was the 2nd owner and he bought it in 1956. At that time it had already been repainted solid light blue. He had it painted in the late 70's to the current colors mostly based on the American Pontiacs he had seen.
