well i just finished researching every rear end casting # GM ever made i think, the reason i got stumped is i mostly was told that it was an 8.2 posi and thats what i have in my car but not a posi , a member of this site came through and sold me this posi for a song,i had bought 2 posi that were wrong for my LeMANS  and they cost me $650, after my 4th day on the p.c i found out this so called 8.2 posi is a "1971 cutlass 442" 8.5 10 bolt posi rear end,built in Lansing MI, with 7/16 ring gear bolts 3/4 heads.1-1/4 pinion nut 407296.GFD 1 BD  RIGHT ON!!!! , thanks to a fellow poncho member
