Between building a cottage and an unexpected water heater failure that has prompted a basement renovation I have managed to do some work on the my bush goat.
As can be seen the base of the windshield is pretty badly rotted.
Some metal fabrication and welding and it's solid again.
Yes that was me. I was having difficulties convincing myself to pay $500 for something I couldn't hear run and be saddled with a trans I didn't need. I missed out on a 455 for $275 a few months back as I was pretty busy and couldn't get away to Humbolt to get it. Based on that, the 400 was worth $300 and Bob wasn't interested. I think you still got a good score.
The motor in the goat is pretty well seized. I have another 400 but it's a newer block with only the 3 bolt motor mounts. I'll probably fabricate some adapters.
So are these 67 Chevelle seats? Aside from being filthy does anyone need these?
i think thats my back seat i bought last september , did you sell those to a c p member living in st jean sur richelieu Quebec ??? , the guy own s a 67 Beaumont
the seats are dirty but in good shape to get new covers
strange to find those in a 69 GTO , where they installed in the car or just piled in there ??

I HAVE THIS THING FOR A 4 DOOR 65 BISCAYNE 6 CYL STD DONT KNOW WHY ?
by the way i found a 68 Goat just arround the corner where i live , sitting there in a winter garage ( what we call a tempo ) needs work , but could be a deal , i ts one of my old friend s brother who had bought it in 1985 ans has restored it back then , but needs a lot of t l c 25 years latter
but a 68 goat in orig shape with the dual gate shifter and orig 400 could be a good investment .........i guess , the putty on the car is thick , but now you can get almost every body panel for those cars ........that makes it an easier fix than it was 10 or 20 years ago
might go inquire , , make my self a x mas gift and freak out the wife .

I sold the seats to list member MagicR for $150 and $121 for freight. I remember it costing me more than was quoted as the skid got added to size. In the end made jack on the seats.
The seats were laying loose in the goat and as of so far I haven't gotten anything yet.
Not sure on how the current stock of parts fit but I know of a couple people that had major issues with fit of the replacement front fenders a few years back. From when I built my 70 GTO 16yrs ago I can only recommend to use as much of the factory tin as possible.
Well, I'm back at working on the bush goat and in the process of buidling a short block. Some time back I had the hair brained idea to have the mains turned down on a 455 crank to fit the 400 block. Discovered after the fact that the thrust bearing width is different from the small journal to large journal crank. Did some snooping around on the internet and found the solution was to weld and machine the trust area. I did not really take to that idea. Did some more sluething and found a Pontiac racer that runs a machine shop in florida and has a ""shim kit"" to match a wider trust bearing into the block and cap. The instructions are to red locktite the spacers into place. Did that before Christmas. When I went to drop the crank into place to start a preliminary assembly to check clearances I discovered the machine shop did not turn down the seal area from a 455 diameter to the smaller 400. Got that resolved and the crank fits like it should.
As the bushgoat didn't have an interior I was able to score a pretty decent interior deal of off evil-bay. Shipping was a little rough but still a deal compared to aquiring all the parts and rebuidling and upholstering it all. Just need to get carpet and a headliner.
Included are the re-upholstered seats & headrests, a console, new door panels, arm rests and package tray.
Like the gold! Are you going with a gold exterior also?

Yes, I'm bringing it back into town soon to continue the resurrection.

Since I would like to get the bushgoat on the road this year, body work and paint will not be happening. However when the time does come for paint I will be painting the car gold.
I can only recommend to use as much of the factory tin as possible.
that what i hear more and more often , and some guys say , the time you invest in fixing orig old body parts.................might as well buy new ones
but if they are going to fit like crap , i will fix my old fenders on my Beaumont wich have a little rust.............but they will fit much better !

Got the heads off. Not nearly as rusty as I was expecting.
Also, I confirmed that the engine is original to the car and when it gets pulled in the next couple days I'll pop the pistons loose grease up the bores and put away for a rainy day.
Any suggestions on soaking the bores to loosen the rust.
