Hi there

This spring I got a 1967 Parisienne 2+2 convertible. It's the 2nd such automobile in my family in the last 35 years. Unfortunately the first aged ungraceously but this one just found itself a caring, loving home.

Originally a 283, it's been re-engined with a 305 V8, possibly coming from a Chevy pickup, but no mechanic so far has been able to pinpoint its origin. I wonder if anybody here can tell me what to look for in the serial number. Got a powerglide transmission (very smooth) and power windows and antenna that actually work. Original AM radio, seats with headrests, fender skirts, and the paint is in good condition (looks good from 10 feet away.) The power top looks new from the outside but from the inside you can see (and smell) its age. Everything works on the car except for the clock which occassionally works for a couple of seconds. I wonder if it needs a good cleaning.

Definitely turns heads and gets respect wherever I go. People don't cut me off, just stop (sometimes look stunned) and  watch, ask questions (usually what year is it and what size engine) and when parked they take photos of the car.

I hope I can find the time to come here often enough. Cheers,

Welcome Leo from the Okanagan valley in B.C. My youngest daughter is a resident in your great city during the school year as she is entering her fourth year of university.

Hi Leo, welcome here. You'll find this is a great place to hang out.

As far as your engine goes, can you see any numbers stamped on the machined surface of the block right in front of the passenger cylinder head where the head and block mating surface is?

If not, I know it's a long shot but how about on the driver's side of the block at the back, below where the head meets the block? That set of numbers would be cast, not stamped.

I, for one, would love to see more shots of your car, interior, exterior shots, etc.

Hello

Jared, if your daughter likes antique cars, tell her to go to the Orange Julep on Decarie on a Wednesday night; you can easily find about 60 cars between 7 and 10PM.

Carl, I will check in daylight as my garage's lights are not sufficient enough for my eyesight... The numbers are definitely there. As for photos, I just downsized one of them as I'm having trouble uploading them. My photos are mostly 12MP so as I downsize copies I will definitely post them. Here's one from the Orange Julep.

    Cheers, Leo

Nice! Hard to argue with a bright red Pontiac 2+2 convertible when you talk about style!

She does love the old ones and I will tell her about it.  She is coming back your way in a little over a week.  I am actually hoping to find an old car for her to drive.

Hi guys

Here we go. The engine serial # appears to be 18438572 and is located at the front. Would love to know where it came from.

I added another photo, strange angle though yet it shows that it is quite longer than my extended wheelbase Montana! I will add more photos but each time I try to add a second one the uploader freezes.

Naw ... the boy's telling him to jump jump jump.

Bienvenue, mon voisin. We're getting almost enough k-becers here to warrant a meet.

Nice to hear from so many Pontiac fans and glad to know I'm not alone. If Wednesday doesn't rain, I'll be at the Orange Julep and then I'll have to post some pictures. Here's another picture with the hubcaps the car had when I bought it (they had to go... Made in Taiwan)

Welcome Leo! Your car looks trés bien. It was probably built in Ste. Thérèse on  the outskirts of Montreal. I love the big simple GM cars of that era. A 2+2 is comfy, stylish and makes a great cruiser. I agree, those generic wheel covers have to go.

I'll give that some serious thought Pat. I'll need a French speaking moderator.

Following research on the VIN, it came from Oshawa. And the wheel covers did go! Next I have to find is original round-shaped mirrors, if I get lucky.
