$18,000 raised for a Children's Charity, Grandview Children's Centre, what else needs to be said ?

biggrin Those damn car curmudgeons! Love the description!

18 thousand Gs ... is that it! They could raise that in no time on little ole, charity-obsessed PEI.

Dualquad Pete's buddies all boycotted this year so total was down. For my $40 I got a nice shirt, Souvenir beverage mug, door prize nice DEWALT hat and tire guage, event plaque , parking and two addmissions. I don't know how any was left over for the children's centre.

I don't get it -Steve was there with me at the time "no for sale signs allowed"

wrong guy -I'm an appraiser in Niagara - I reccommend 'good' shows to customers

Im siding with Ken on this one. They both have valid points. the club member said no for sale sign outside the car this is a car show and wasn't nice about it at all. Ken said nothing posted in attached paper work about this (I also check the website nothing there either) and he had come to sell the car. I stayed out of it because it got ugly quickly. Ive been to previous shows and have heard the announcements and knew about the no for sale signs outside the vehicle all right to put one on the seat policy. $40 bucks for 3hrs is pretty expensive if youre trying to sell a car. I cant blame Ken for trying hes going to get excellent exposure at this venue its just to bad its a car show.  Ive looked forward to this weekend all year and I wasnt disappointed except for the lack of vendors. some folks have been going on about the price so heres something local to compare, in my hands is an application for the megaspeed show in the spring, they had flyers on a gmc truck even if it was dressed as a chevy (sore point with me). $45 for 3 days if you want to put in your car and none of it goes to charity. i also talked to one of the club members this morning about this incident and they are aware of the lack of reference of no posting of forsale sign. i did mention get your act together because i do know of at least one fellow who doesn't plan to come back.

Like Steve I love Autofest, and we had a great time there. I posted photographic evidence of cars for sale and that is just a few of them, I'd say I saw upwards of 50 cars for sale so you can offer you car for sale there discretly. One of those cars I posted that Chevy Woody was right at the main stage area for Pete's sake. That barn find Pontiac directly in front of the stage. The issue is an individual. Most of these car club guys are old retired grumpy guys with little else in their life than the car club, they don't like being in a crowd and they generally don't like people. It's unbeileveable how miserable these guys are and how they only approach happiness when complaining about something, usually how the Government is screwing them. Solution: Smile and ignore them.

Like any big event Autofest can improve but I'm not ready to volunteer to help organize it so I'll be quiet. $18,000 raised for a Children's Charity, Grandview Children's Centre, what else needs to be said ?

Ray, that's right, some of the guys had never missed one but this yr. they said enough is enough!!! I've never been there so can't comment!!! Sounds like some had a "good time" & others weren't too happy. Neighbour went as a spectator & agreed that the awards were a 'total cluster "F" I've spoken to a few who went from this area & most said 'that's it for that one" couldn't leave untill it was all over??? Gate closed!!!!!

Easy for you to say - you didn't drive 2 1/2 hours to put a car for sale-then get threatened to get thrown out if the sign isn't removed ! It didn't even cross my mind that you couldn't have a for sale sign--someone else was saying they were announing it on the PA later ! no for sale signs ! Discretly ! balony ! either you can have it or you can't glad they raised money - but you won't see me there again-and I sure won't recommend the show to anyone again

This car show ( http://canadianponcho.activeboard.com/t50502105/a-few-cars-at-kars-for-kidz-car-show-pei/ ) made $13,000.00 for the children's hospital on PEI.

$18,000.00 ... that's pathetic disbelief

Why didn't you just park the car, cool out, and enjoy show. It's not all about so-called "capitalism" my friend.

 Well now-aren't you a funny guy !

read and you'll see I was attending the show and enjoying the excellent location, quality of cars and the people---until some clown comes by telling me I'll get thrown out if I don't remove the For Sale sign-and if he returns and its back on the car he'll throw me out !

I went to this show for the sole purpose of exposure for Carl's car for sale-recommended by people on this site-being an Oshawa executive car and all it made sense. Not one person has even remotely suggested that they had the forsight to think you couldn't have a for sale sign on a car at a car show !

If I wanted to attend a show for the sheer pleasure-it would be close to home not 2 1/2 hours away when I'm on vacation---I would have continued to enjoy the show had the clown at least not been so rude about it (theres a big difference in 'thats gotta go ! and the option of 'excuse me are you aware for sale signs are not allowed')

bottom line-wasted day-wasted $140 ( not to mention license and insurance on the car for this purpose only)-won't ever return-won't ever recommend it

The icing on the cake is that Ray got to see at least '50 cars' with for sale signs the next day !

ya they hold the show-they make the rules-then stick by the rules-and advertise the rules before hand--oh I checked the contract-no mention of 'no for sale signs'

I had commented earlier about guys out here taking out 1 day permits for the purpose of going to a show and exposing their car for sale.  There was a medium size show in the Okanagan here on Sunday and on the front page of our daily paper was a nice picture of a unique car and a write up saying it was at yesterday's show.  On the third page of the paper half the page was taken up with another 4 vehicles with details on what they were and their owners.  The one car in the article had an interview with the owner and included the price he was hoping to get for the car as he had it at the show for sale.  Every show is different but in my reading I think cars are selling better out here and for better dollars but what do I know, I'm just a carpenter.

"get caught " ???????????? whats to get caught ? there was no mention prior too that there were no for sale signs allowed-he said it was in the contract - which it isn't- nobody here had the forsight to think that there was no for sale signs allowed-actually I haven't heard one person suggest that it was a good idea not to allow them ! I was told to remove the sign or he would throw me out-he also said if he came back and it was there again I would get thrown out-he even sent over a couple back up guys to hang by the fence for when I returned to check on my sign-

ya you're right I didn't go to attend the show that was suppose to be the bonus-I went to put the car for sale and get exposure for it-a few people here continually recommended bringing the car for sale on the days leading up to the show

your car should not have had a sign on it for sale either-if those are the rules they should be enforced to all and abided by all

if they told me or posted the rules prior -I would not have went-no where have I found 'no for sale signs allowed' - I would abide-I don't need to break the rules by putting it back when he leaves

The 41 Graham "Hollywood" is my friends from Osh. likely had a FOR SALE sign in the frt. or back seat!!! Was asking $ 95,500.oo for it,last time I spoke with him about it. Has over $140,000 in it as he "paid" to have it done!! But he never thought it would be so hard to sell it, as "unique' & rare' as it is, theres just no market & bad time of yr. to boot, season's almost over!!!! Real nice street rod, 350 crate mtr, 350 trans, A/c etc. Larry's "paranoid" to drive it as it "might get a paint chip" so it sits in the garage waiting for someone to buy it?????
