That was a great looking car. Anyone notice any resemblance to the Cord 810/812 sedan?  If you do that's no coincidence as Graham took over ACD - Auburn Cord Duesenberg and carried on with the basic Cord sedan design. Very rare and nice looking pre war American car.

it took me 2.5 hrs to get there also spent 140.00 bucks for this trip and i enjoyed evere minute of it. matter of fact next year i, m going for the whole week end  like jerry e lewis would say GREAT BALLS OF FIRE

I drove for five and half days to attend friday night, all day Saturday and till 6:00 PM Sunday.   I had the chance to meet Ray, Steve, and somone else whose real name and screen name escapes me at the moment.  I even saw and spoke with Fred.   Three times on Sunday after meeting him at Willie's on Friday.

I've already started planning for next year.   Won an insulated mug on a trivia question.  Met a bunch of great people who were more than willing to answer all my questions about their cars.  Talked to a few original owners to find out why they bought the cars they did.

Everyone seemed to be in the best of spirits.   I've attended six AutoFests now and plan on attending more.   My reason for going to to see cars I'd never have the chance to see if I didn't go.   I also enjoy meeting new people, discovering things I didn't know etc.  I also try to document any Beaumonts and Chevelles I see.  

My friend Colin and I go for a "no stress" event.   In the past years I've dealt with a faulty carburetor, ruined rear end, dead power steering unit and a dead starter that kept me from the street party last year.   So I've had my share of things that could have ruined my AutoFest experiences.   Major outlay of money - while on vacation five provinces from home - to resolve one issue and four hours to find a starter for a small block V8 in the Oshawa area on another.

I decided not to let those events determine my AutoFest experience.   After counting to ten and taking a few moments to let those things pass I decided to enjoy the event and see what happened.   I've been pleasantly so wrapped up in the event and what I was seeing that I forgot about those negative events.

My only issues are these:  not meeting more of the people on this forum.   Not being informed about a show that was only forty miles away from where I was staying that I would have attended on the Wednesday night had I know about it.

Anyways, I hope those that attended AutoFest this year have as many good memories as I do.

It would have been a great show had they not given me a hard time about the sign

yes there are costs - the car displayers pay entry fee raising the money for the donation

 

I agreed it was a good show and good time until I was told NO SIGN - I'll never return

Thanks for the great pics Ray and taking the time to upload them!! Ken sorry to hear they gave you are hard time about the sign but you did go on about it a little too much! I personally would have asked the person who told you no signs to let you speak with the person in charge so you could review the contract together that I'm sure you signed and determine if it was in there some where.

i like dave really enjoy the show and will be going back. but i was there when the old guy from the club came up and told ken to take the sign down he definitely could have used some diplomacy instead of ramping it up from the get go. come on ken don't let the snapper heads actions change your attitude for the show. i know how ya feel after dealing with the clown that runs that runs haugens i still get my hackles up over that one.

The overwhelming majority of attendees on this forum loved the show one in particular driving from the west coast SIX times over the years. Countless showgoers were able to offer their cars for sale without incident. Your constant ridicule and fault finding posts are doing nothing but to diminish your own credibility. You've been whining and crying for almost two weeks now Ken, we are all tired of it. Man up.

Attitudes aside, here and at Autofest, it seems odd that one person is singled out for having a for sale sign. I would find it hard to believe there weren't a lot of other signs at an event that size.

I don't think it's fair to say we are all tired of something here. Each one of us here is allowed to post our opinions in a diplomatic fashion if they are not contrary to Todd's rules as far as I've seen. That's democracy.

There is an old PEI tradition on how irate Manitobans are received on PEI. I forget what it is exactly, but it involves a lobster, a potato, and Anne Of Green Gables!bleh
