Disc brakes and new wheels.

Hi

A friend is selling me original GM 50 series SS wheels 14 x 7". Before to buy them I want to know if I will have problems changing the drum brakes for the conversion kit that exist in Ground Up to install disc brakes.

I know the front discs must be bigger than rear discs, but for that size of wheel (14 x 7") can I put 11" discs on front? My idea is to put 9" on back.

I need a quick answer before to buy the wheels. Thanks

Greeting from Chile.

I will buy the conversion kit first and then I will search for the correct wheels. Thanks!

Those are the same wheels that came on my 70 SS Chevelle & 70 SS Nova (disc brakes from the General). You shouldn't have any interference problems as long as you use the factory components. I had a look at the conversion link you provided and it's hard to tell if the components are the same ...or not. Good luck.

I bought a retro fit kit for my 65 beaumont.. and the 14" wheels hit the calipers.. I was hoping to use the 14" wheels, but had to go to 15" to fit the brakes. if I'd gone with original parts from 67 - 72 A-body, I wouldnt have had the problem.. it was just convenience that lead me to the "new" products
