I would paint it. Saying that, what would be the easiest way ... paint very carefully between the ribs, or paint the whole area and wipe the tops of the ribs off with a cloth/thinners?

Wow that looks great. Curious what they charged you for that. You sure don't have to say if you don't want to. Looking good.

That sure is shiny, looks sweet!!!! Would you try a steady hand and a thin car model/ craft paint brush to do the lines?

it was $350, more then i paid for the car !!
but i'm getting used to it.
next will be both bumpers.
Going to get a front one at the Monroe Swap meet
first weekend of Oct. Back one i will have to leave
there because of back up lights.

I have done the lines before just by spraying and wiping
the tops off quickly. i have done my side chrome that way. (front drivers dender)

here is a pic of the front half before, you can see the

center edge is discoloured

Major improvement!
Sounds like you've captured how to paint in the recesses - no it's not with a brush and a not so steady hand.

That price seems very in line in my opinion when we see some of the prices of other chroming being done. Will look very nice, you will want to take a few pictures of it.

Good way to paint in between the lines is to mask off the other parts of the console first them take a small piece of scitchbrite and scuff between the ribs first.I painted the fins on my 66 beaumont headlight bezels and this worked well.Once you have scuffed the low areas between the ribs you will need to prime in there to make the black paint stick.I did this and then painted the area ribs and all, then quickly took a small felt tip with mineral spirits and cleaned off the high points of the ribs so only the low areas were left with the primer-let dry for a few minutes and then painted it black and again repeated the felt tip with mineral spirits to take off the black paint on the tops of the ribs-it took some patience, but it worked great.Left a nice clean edge as well.Just be careful and it works great.
