D99 OPTION

Here is a photo from the archives of the car Clint refers to. You can see the D99 option pretty clearly dividing the two tone paint.

Does anyone have any information on  the D99 " special two-tone paint, moulding" option? The GM buildsheet on my 66 SD Beaumont shows this. Thanks.

Basically just that it is an optional moulding that you could order and as you state, it is the divider moulding that would go on if the car has a vinyl roof or is a two tone. Strictly an appearance thing and seems to be very common on Canadian Pontiacs, especially Beaumonts.

yup, the green/gold 2+2 I had also had that option.   That car was green body / gold painted roof and had a stainless piece dividing the two.   Probably the same stainless piece that was used if the car had a vinyl roof.  D99 was listed on the trim tag.

Like they said was very popular on canadian cars.  If vinyl roof ordered it would say option C08 but if just the trim option D99 on your trim tag.

In the U.S. D99 was for 2-tone paint, but in Canada you could order the D99 2-tone paint division moldings by themselves even without 2-tone paint. I can't recall offhand, but it seems to me that D99 moldings were $9, while D99 with 2-tone paint was $17 (I'm talking 1967 dollars).

The C08 option on the '68 Parisienne I parted out:

My dad's 67 Beaumont Custom has the D99 option without two tone paint or vinyl roof. Mine does not. I like that option and have considered adding it to my car but I don't see me taking a drill bit to it...

Most dealers would order it and have the upholstery guy install a vynil roof as a money maker.

The roof and body are then the same color, but has the D99 divider.   I've seen that before.

So to get this straight, a solid colour car with the moulding will have D99 on the tag. A two tone car with the moulding will not have D99 on the tag?

In both instances (2-tone or monotone) a Canadian-built car will have D99 on the trim tag. A factory vinyl roof cover will not have D99 on the trim tag, it will have C08.

a two tone paint car with D99 will also have two paint codes for top and bottom on the tag.
