Never understood the appeal of a vinyl roof....

Love this car, if I didn't already have one I'd be all over this. I have to agree, what's the deal with vinyl top's? I hate them, mine had one installed at the dealer and what a crappy job. I had to replace the sunroof panel when it was restored it was so rusty. When I peeled the vinyl off there was still water underneath and the contact cement they used was applied in patches. A really bad install!

I like the color and like you all said the vinyl roof gotta go ! At that price, i'd rather buy a 1970-75 Firebird 4 speed ...

That is a factory vinyl roof installation. You can easily tell factory jobs from dealer jobs because the louvers match the roof. On a dealer job the louvers are the body colour which looks totally wrong.

I flew down to see this car in person 2 weeks ago based on these nice pictures and the owners's description. Had the money in my pocket (12 G's). I was intending to buy it. Needless to say I was dissapointed! Waste of my time.

These pictures are old. In my opinion the car is a 6.5 out of 10 (maybe?). Lots & lots of door dings and chipped paint from this down both sides. The nose is badlly discolored. I would say it's worth $6-7K at most. With a high quality body & paint job, it's worth $15 K.

That's a real shame that you flew out and found the car misrepresented. Why can't people be honest when you call? They know you are going to see it when you come in person!

Wow, what a let down that would have been considering the money you would have spent on a flight. I'm pretty sure this car has been for sale off and on for a couple year's. I had my '75 appraised a couple year's ago for $15,000. Could I get that, not likely but if someone waved $12,000 in my face I sure would have to think about it. You'd think that you would post current photo's of the current condition, some people. My '75 is one of 48 that entered Canada with the power sunroof, with the 455 I figure maybe 10 with that combination. There were 1,215 '75 2drs that came into Canada and only 277 had the 455.

So sorry to hear the bad news Dave, It's a real shame !  Dave was the second owner of my Grand Am, I am the 4th owner, he is a real good guy, an asset to the Canadian Poncho site, by the way a warm Welcome from me Dave, another Winnipeger joins :)

As for you Robert, If you were to sell your car, you wouldn't be the Grand Man of Canada anymore, I think it's a bad idea ... lol. Your car has to be one of the nicest 1975 Grand Am in the country !

Hey thanks for the kind words Guys.

I really wanted that car. It cost me about $700 in air fare & car rental to find out that I had been duped.

That`s how much I wanted that car. Oh well , lesson learned, right. That`s why you don`t buy a car sight unseen.

Robert, if you want to consider selling your G/A to me, I would be seriously interested.

I am in buying mode right now! White is my favourite color too!

Pascal, don't worry Pal, if I had Roberts car I would be 20 minutes drive away from you.

How Cool is that Buddy! You could visit it anytime.

PS. Robert, I`m serious....Let me know your thoughts

Dave T

I'd be POd ... I'd seriously "pursuade" the owner to pay for my travelling expenses while I was face to face!

You should have posted a shout-out to Kawartha area members on this site to check it out for you, their travelling expenses paid. There are a few on here.

Hey Pascal~

How are things going with my old 75?

Are you making any progress on her?

What have you done since I saw you last?

PS> Thanks for the great Intro.

Super nice.

You're awesome Buddy.

I replaced the timing chain, fuel pump, distributor, a leaky brittle fuel line by the gas tank, cruise control unit, balancer, accelerator pump in the carb, battery tray ... I still got to do an engine change ie. the 455 out of the 1973 Grand Am parts car and 6X #4 heads out of a 1978 W72 Trans Am with 7/16 studs and polylocks, Summitt 2802 cam, 1972 Intake and older better rebuilt Qjet carb ... Good luck with the Grand Am search !

Wow,

You have done quite a bit to it.

I'll have to come back & see it one of these days.

Thanks, the hunt continues....

As the guys were saying, if you need someone to look a car over in that area or Durham region, give me or others the 'heads" up!! Glad to help out when possible.  Pete
