I'm guessing that you would have to "highlight" each page (of the 4 page PDF) and move to another file Not sure I can print separate pages and copy and paste but never did a lot with scanning to PDF try Googling your question
Instead of using your scanner use your camera and a free program called Cute PDF. After you install Cute PDF you can create PDF documents from your print dialogue in any program. Here are the steps.
1. Take a photo of each page. 2. Open each photo in a file viewing program. I use Irfanview (another free program). 3. Type Cntrl P to open your print dialogue. You will see Cute PDF listed along with your printer. Select it and click Print. Pick a location to save your file and click Save.
I would rename your photos to correspond with the respective page number of the manual for ease of use.
thanks, but i think i will stay with scanning 15 pages at a time, the manual is over 500 pages so would take forever to do it that way.. i could just photo copy it .. this will be a good winter project.

I'm not sure if you're trying to make one file with multiple pages or if you're trying to create a separate file for each page?
If you want single page files, CutePDF Writer will work. Just install the program and it becomes a printer you send files to. The printout is a PDF file. You can print one page or multiple pages.
I don't think you can append pages to an existing PDF using CutePDF Writer. You can add pages to a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat, but it's not cheap. There are other, cheaper versions from BlueBeam, Nuance etc. Google those names and you should find them for $150 or so.
If you search, you can probably find a free or trial-period program to do it but it might have a watermark. OR - check the software that came with your scanner, it might do what you want.
Some of the software will do optical character recognition. Thus is useful because you'll be able to search the document looking for specific words. If you want to do that, you usually have to scan at 300dpi or higher. Black & White will keep file size down and works well for text. It'll make a mess of photos though.
If you find out that you can scan and distribute GM manuals (from a copyright perspective), I'd sure like to hear about it.
Edit to fix typo..

Dan email the Old Manual Project: http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/ and find out what the legalities are about certain manuals (if they must be in the public domain, etc.?). Also, find out how they post amanual in pdf. I didn't search their site for your manual, but it might be there. I found the 1960/1964 Chevy B-body manuals for my car, and printed them both off. Good luck!
