DESCRIPTION

First introduced in 1966, the W30 package was the pinnacle of Oldsmobile 442 performance, the 1970 version of which is today regarded as the baddest Oldsmobile of all time. Priced at a hefty $321.23 and described as suited for performance enthusiasts only, the W30 442 incorporated a factory balanced and blueprinted 455/370 HP Rocket High Compression engine with Force Air induction, special high-lift camshaft, 750 cfm Rochester carburetor, aluminum intake manifold and clutch fan, all proudly announced by a dual-intake fiberglass hood, 442 and W-30 badging and special body striping.

Sold new at Findlay Oldsmobile of Las Vegas, this 1970 W-30 442 Sports Coupe from the Mike Guarise Collection embodies all the qualities of Dr. Oldsmobiles fabled machine. One of only 142 2-door post Sports Coupe versions built with a 4-speed manual transmission, it emerged from a Concours-quality body-off restoration by Muscle car Designs of Joliet, IL in 2009 to win both  Concours Gold and the Emerald Award as the best first-time-shown Oldsmobile at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals. It is correctly finished in code 75 Matador Red with matching Red steelies and a Black interior and, quite significantly, retains the all-original matching numbers drivetrain, original sheet metal and the original Red plastic fender liners. Original engine pieces include the Concours-restored 7040256 Rochester carburetor, W-30-specific F heads and W-30-specific intake manifold; the distributor and alternator are also code-correct.

Of equal importance is the cars extensive documentation, which includes full owner history and the original factory build card showing the W-30 option. Also equipped with bucket seats, N34 Custom Sport steering wheel, Hurst shifter, 3.42 Anti Spin rear end and W27 aluminum differential cover, this rare W-30 Sports Coupe is an eminently worthy member of Guarises Red Cover Girls trio of great GM muscle cars that includes Lots S151, a 1970 LS6 Chevelle SS454 and Lot S153, a 1970 Pontiac GTO 455 4-speed.

The Chevelle will always bring more money ....   The Olds  almost the same, and the Pontiac about 1/2

Hey, I like the Olds best too, the Chevlle and GTO are common supercars, that Olds has panache.
