We have a 1965 Mercury Montclair that is very solid. Would be excellent car for using in Demolition Derbies. Need to sell quickly the first $400.00 takes it.
My neighbor had one when I was a kid. A very cool car. My Dad used to refer to them as Dr's cars LOL.

Montclair is a Canuck Mercury. If this car had to be scrapped (derbied), I wonder if that rear window could be saved for another application. Wonder what engine is in it?

My dad had one of those...it had a 352 with a bolt action shifter. It was the first car I ever drove, my older brother drove the snot out of it but it kept on ticking, that 352 was tough as nails. The breeze way window was a cool feature (pun intended).

I almost bought a Rideau at the age of 14 with a 352 in it. My parents said NO ... again! One thing I remember is the reverse gear ratio was almost the same as when it was in drive ... that thing flew in reverse!

Back in the day 63/64 Mercury's were the king of the derbys and when old stuff was plentiful we never thought twice about taking an old sedan and running it. There were more big C body mopars then anything but the 63/64 Mercurys and Fords were very hard to beat. I know a local MB guy that ran the same car for years although it was hardly recognizable after a few events. 65 didn't have the same frame. I don't think there's many derby's left so thankfully that ship has probably sailed.
I worked at an Esso service station in the early 90's. We had one come in that was in great shape BUT someone used tinfoil over one of the fuses. The wiring was cooked from the headlights to the tail lights. He wanted a quote for repairs. He didn't like the bad news we had for him and he had it towed to the crusher. Looking back I think what a shame that was...
when we were kids my buddys dad had a 390 4v model i remember riding in the back with the rear window down and we would sit on the front of the trunk with are feet hanging over the back seat and are arms on the roof, those were the days!!!
Got in touch with the owner, it was her dads car, it has a leak in the fuel tank. Her mom says it ran fine when it was parked a few years ago, her husband poured fuel into the Carb and it did run for a bit so with a constant fuel supply it should run again. Her is her phone number if anyone close by wants to take a look at it and save it from destruction; (306)621-6488 her name is Barb, here email address is bmehling@accesscomm.ca
