Indeed those number matching cars with replacement engines and transmissions, aftermarket gauges clutches and wheels are getting rare. This car's price keeps climbing each time we see it for sale.
The original 396 was on a pallet when the owner bought the car, it needed to be rebuilt (it didn't fare too well on our trip to California in 2006, we got stuck on I15 in 115F temperatures due to a fatality accident just north of Las Vegas and it was never the same after that). As of this summer, the owner was listing the car indicating the 396 has been rebuilt, as does this listing. Rick had put in a 454 (and no it's not an LS6 as some people think), and a new M20 tranny with one of those new cases.
