G'day All, this is my 1964 Pontiac Parisienne that I bought at the start of this year. Its full of custom bog but not too upset as I bloody love the thing. She's a stocko 283 with powerglide. So far I have been redoing the front suspension & making my own disc brake conversion with Holden VT discs & Nissan calipers. Anyhoo here is a few pics. Cheers.
Just some more pics. I think this '64 came with the Dodgey Bros optional extras such as the bit of exhaust pipe bottom radiator hose interconnector & the wheel nut blank off hose plug. Pics are just interior etc & where the l/h rear body mount had rusted out which apparently you can get replacement sections for. A bit to do but that's the challenge. I've found because its basically a Chev with Pontiac panels that parts are quite cheap. I have been also using that kbs paint on the front suspension & applying it by brush & so far pretty happy with it. Cheers.
I have since those last pics earlier in the year put in a new alloy radiator with proper hoses (not exhaust pipe scraps) with twin thermos out of a BA Falcon (Ford) mounted onto it. Also completed disc brake conversion on the front & fabricated mounts to use a brake booster & m/cyl from a VX Commodore (Holden). Have got pics of these if you are keen but didn't post them up today as I think I have gone a bit pic heavy on previous posts. Cheers.

You can never be "a bit pic heavy" Mr. T. Like the close ups.
Love what your doing to your car ... a different approach!
All the the best from another '64 owner.

,,,,,,,,,hey there mr t,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,good to see another Aussie on the site,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,keep the pictures coming - it looks like your doing some great work there,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,where abouts are you from?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Cheers for the comments. I live in Brisbane but bought the car from the Gold Coast so guessing that didn't help its cause rust wise. Not sure what its like in Canada but body parts for the 64's are very hard to come by. Will try to throw up some more pics soon. Cheers.
Bog in : commence eating, to attack food with enthusiasm Bog standard : basic, unadorned, without accessories (a bog standard car, telephone etc.) Bogan : person who takes little pride in his appearance, spends his days slacking and drinking beer Bogged : Stuck in mud, deep sand (a vehicle).
Yeh bit of dry Aussie humour ;) After watching Overhaulin I think it's called Bondo on your side of the globe, it's nickname here is Bog. They really seem to love that stuff on that show. There is a fair amount of bog in my lower front guards and my lower rear quarters are rooted which I think is common on the Aussie Parisiennes and also Impalas. There is bloke locally who hand forms panels and he is keen to have a crack at making some replacement sections when the time comes. Today I was looking on the web for prices on replacement fuel tanks & I couldnt believe how cheap they are in the US, only $99 compared to $345 here. D'OH!!!!
Be careful if you are buying a tank or fuel gauge sending unit. I've read on other forums that you get what you pay for. The cheap tanks and fuel senders are Chinese according to some people. I haven't had any bad experiences but the general thought seems to be that the best tank is the one made in Canada by Spectra.
I haven't checked but our sponsor NOS Reproductions may well sell the Canadian made parts.

Not sure about Beaumonts as only really have Parisiennes & Firebirds etc down here. To be compliant here all new Parisiennes had to have these extra amber indicators fitted which I think look bloody awful as on this one in the pic below (sorry to whoever this car is). Are the Canadian indicators/turn signals illuminated with the brake lights or by the lights inset in the bumper bar? As my ugly amber ones have been removed I was thinking of using the ones in my bumper with amber bulbs fitted instead. Cheers.
Here is some more pics I took tonight:
VX Booster & M/Cyl with Toyota something support arm.
New shiny radiator & thermos.
Rebuilt steering shaft using HQ Holden kit for upper end & Impala for lower rag joint.
Disc brakes done with SSA calipers (just the word Nissan I modified with a file ).

Signal indicators are in the tail lights here in Canada. Using the bumper back up lights would be a good idea.

..........like the new pics,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,youre doing a great job there - I like the fact that youre doing your own thing and using readily available parts that seem to be easily adaptable - you got any idea how the brake setup will come up using the various parts youve chosen?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,good job - keen to see further progress,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Thanks Dave. Hoping the brakes will be really good especially with the calipers. I will have to plumb in a residual valve for the rear drums as I'm going to keep the drums on the rear as they are huge. Torn between whether I should keep going and get driving it or completely pull it apart & start from scratch. Keen to see some more pics of your Pontiac too. Cheers.
..........keen to hear how they work out - I ended up doing the Hopper Stopper brake setup with the Parisienne - there's plenty of threads on this site with pics of the Pariesenne's progress - if you cant find 'em, I'll shoot them too you.............
.....its addictive once you get started working on the damn things - I was only going to resto the bare essentials, but ended up with a full resto in progress!!!!.........I reckon these old iron horses are worth the effort tho'!!!!.............go the whole hog would be my advice, even it does take longer and cost more $...............
