Correct Coil Spring Color

We are restoring a very rare 1964 Custom Sport Convertible Parisienne. It is a 340 HP 409 4 speed car.

Are the front coil springs supposed to be natural steel color or black?

Welcome here Stinger.

I can't help with your question but we have a number of 64 folks here and I'm sure one of them will be able to help you.

And I might as well speak for the group, "Can we see pictures of your project?" We LOVE project pictures here, no worries if it's a million pieces or rough shape.

Welcome to the site Jeremy from Barrie Ontario. As a 64cs 4sp owner now,and a original 64 409 425 owner the front springs had a light coat of flat black paint.
Cheers
Brian

Yes it does sound like the same car ... not too many of those around.

The '64 Parisienne restored on the website www.alternativerestoration.ca is not the same car mentioned.

In 1965 we took the springs out of my 409 to intall 65 Ford springs to get better weight dist...

the 64's were rusty with some flat black overspray..  We threw them in junk

The one on our website is my boss's brother's ride. It is a custom build...very slick! The project we just started began in my boss's head 12 years ago. He's been collecting parts forever an I finally got him to let me start working on it. It is not on our website yet, but it will be shortly. My build is the 76 road race corvette under current projects.
