Antenna identification

I removed the front fender antenna from my 66 GP. I'm not sure if it's original though. I am going to list the unit for sale but first I need to see if someone can tell me what it's from. I'm asking here in the 64 and older forum because it looks exactly like I remember the earlier antennas looking, not the 66 antenna. It's a round mast, and this is the plastic bezel/nut that screws on to the base.

Anyone know?

I'd be interested in purchasing it Carl. Mine's broken.

Carl,  This is the Canadian ONLY bezel nut used on all 1963-65 canadian built GM cars including trucks, chevelles, beaumonts, etc.  but only correct for canadian cars,  US cars had the usual cast chome one that always siezes on.

My 65 truck had it factory too,  so i am going to guess that 66 canadian trucks also used it,  but i cant say for sure.  I say that because the 64-66 trucks are all the same body.

Thanks Dave, I was hoping you'd see this! I suspected you'd be able to tell me if it was 64 era.

I'm thinking I'll check in the GM accessory books too. They might shed some light on it, possibly 66 then on cars too?

A guy never knows for sure because it's something people could have changed very easily if they had trouble like a broken mast or whatever.

Hi Carl, I went thru all my 66 parts car pictures past and present and didn't see a black bezel nut on any. It's the same as my 63 Imp.

There you go Darryl. I think my chrome base is different than that.

Antennas could be like side mirrors. There is a general concensus of what a 1964 Parisienne mirror looks like, but once in a while a different looking original mirror is found on a '64 Parisienne. It is probably due to a dealer installation. Off the parts room shelf. Maybe it's the same for antennas?

Mine and Beaumontgurus nuts (that doesn't sound gooddoh) are correct for '64 & '65 (maybe '63) and maybe a few other later years got them (dealer) installed also.

My Dad would often haggle with the dealer to get a power antenna installed to seal the deal prior to purchasing a new car.

Pulled one of those off my buddys 66 Impala SS (Canadian built) last year.

WAS a real original car.

Will post a picture when I find it.......

My 63 & 64 Parisienne's BOTH have that style nut.....

I have what I believe to be an original 62 Canadian Pontiac antenna here,as well...which has a different style plastic nut.
